Anyone really think Herbie is necessary?

Is this really something we need to keep for "tradition" or anything else? I thought Lil' Red was a nice gimmick for a while, but I'm looking at this Chair trophy they are bringing back and Herbie's smiling mug is on it.

I saw someone's sig pic a while back and it was a gorilla in a pair of overalls and a cowboy hat. I think that's actually a pretty cool upgrade from the new Herbie.

The blonde haired Herbie is the mascot I grew up with in the 70's and 80's
and the one I like the most

Have you seen a cornhusker lately - biggest, ugliest, toughest machine on the farm
need that for a mascot

Love to see the gorilla one.. I think that would be pretty cool.

Lil' Red is dated.. I don't think they can give him a fidget spinner and call it good either.

Herbie is kinda creepy.

Since we are all about destroying identity and tradition, I say axe both lil red and herbie and go for the gorilla in overalls with the cowboy hat..

I would be fine with ESPN firing Herbie - but he would probably just show up on FS1/Fox or BTN.
