I have not heard any of that, and wonder where it is coming from.... I have only heard positive things about Scott.
Does Whit have any experience in athletic administration? No. Until he gets some experience in that department, he is unqualified to be an Athletic Director at an SEC institution. Period.SilentDog said:white hughes is a good candidate for all the reasons listed above. waiver: i don't know any of the others. i will say that working with the MDA and managing that government insitution is a bigger task than managing an athletic dept.</p>
Could not find the blog. Can you para phrase?topdawg said:I have not heard any of that, and wonder where it is coming from.... I have only heard positive things about Scott.
Have now read the blog. I agree. The posts I have read ( a bunch) have been 95%+ positive concerning Scott S. I hope Matt's blog does not unintentionly hurt Scott S by giving the impression that there is some groundswell against him.topdawg said:I have not heard any of that, and wonder where it is coming from.... You're exactly right Memphis. It spotlights even more how directly opposite those few comments were from 95% of what you hear from those who've met/worked with Scott.memphisbulldog said:The posts I have read ( a bunch) have been 95%+ positive concerning Scott S. I agree w/ this 100%. AD of an SEC school should not beanyones first venture into NCAA athletic administration. If I had a question about what company to give a tax break to in order to get their business in MS, I'd askWhit. IfI had a question about football scheduling, athleticdepartment fundraising, facilities upgrades, etc., I'd want someonein that office with experience in thatfield.Mr Meoff said:Stricklin = 20 years experience in athletic departments

This is not a reflection on Whit as a person -- I know him fairly well, and like him a lot. But I would be worried about ANYBODY going into this job with no experience... It's too important right now, with the future of all the big 3 sports in question. I've hired people with no experience before, and most of the first couple years is spent teaching them how not to screw up.
Hire Strick as AD, and Whit (if he wants to gain experience) as Associate AD. Then we're set for the foreseeable future.
