Have 2 for 1/2 candlelight Christmas at Biltmore. 7:45 entry time. I paid $340 but I’m willing to sell at a discount to get rid of them.

not sure if this belongs in ticket exchange or not being a non UNC thing lol

I cannot take them, but good luck to you. Biltmore is especially beautiful at Christmas.

Is it really that expensive just to tour the house now? Gracious. It’s probably been 20 years since I went but I don’t remember it being that cost prohibitive.

Isn't it free to tour alone, not on a guided tour? Never been but have it on my future list, but not if it's going to break the bank.

Biltmore ticket prices are tiered based on season, day of the week, time etc.

The Christmas tour is the most expensive of the perennial seasonal tours. The Candlelight tour that OP has tickets for is kicked up a couple more notches in price because it is on a weekend and at night. I think a wine tasting is included but not certain.

The tours are done with a pre recorded audio device that guides you through at your own pace. Each major room has someone stationed to answer questions. There are options for group tours with a guide but those are reserved for certain day/times and kick up the price quite a bit.

I went August 2024 on a Friday afternoon. My only previous time was nearly 35 years prior. The ticket was right at $100. Monday-Thursday are a little less. Winter after New Years start at $70 I think. There are no free tour options for adults, but discounts/free for children pending age.

I get what Pineheel is saying, but if you’ve never been or it’s been a long time it is worth it to do at least the standard non holiday weekday tour, IMO. Took me back a little when they told me $100, but when you consider what it costs to attend a UNC football/basketball game these days not so much at all really. There is a lot to see. And you don’t have to be concerned with leaving disappointed wondering WTH you just witnessed either {rimshot}.

There is a UNC alumni discount, but it is pending certain day/time and tour type. I just remember it was not available the day I went.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if there a hotel on site? I know it would be expensive but it would beat staying in Asheville. I have health issues in my old age and would like stay as close by as possible.

Yes there is a hotel on the property, a smaller inn and cottages as well.

I just checked the website and they are offering 25% off through Dec16 for hotel stays after New Years through March 19.

I just perused the website and looking at a 2 day stay and doing all the things we'd like to do, it would run us about $5,000 not counting travel costs. Not sure it's worth that to me.

^ Wowza, I understand that. I typically travel alone, am fortunately in good health and do everything on the cheap, no pun intended haha. Thursday/Friday overnight at a no frills but safe hotel + Biltmore and Chimney Rock + meals, with about 400 miles round trip drive, ran me about $600, and that was pushing my budget. No way I could do anything close to 5K for a couple days.

Bummer.
