There's a college baseball round-robin tournament in Houston every year called the Houston College Classic. Each year Rice/Houston host this event and bring in 4 other big name college programs. Generally, A+M or Texas is always here.... This year Mizzou, Texas Tech, Texas, and TCU rounded out the 6 teams (with Rice and Houston). They play the games at Minute Maid park and it's a pretty solid event.

With the Abraham kid coming to MSU (he's from Houston) I think it would be a pretty solid idea for us to try and get in this tournament somehow, if at all possible. High School baseball in Houston is HUGE and very competitive... no reason we shouldn't try to recruit the area, as it is easily fairly easily accesible to Starkville (8.5 hour drive or 1 hour flight/2 hour drive). It'd also be a good stage to get some quality wins... and with our young guys contributing so much early, I only see better days ahead for the Diamond Dawgs.

The Houston alumni chapter is pretty solid and well run too, so MSU would have plenty of support at the games.</p>

We could schedule some decent teams in our own round-robin.<div>
</div><div>Beating Michigan State (77) and Southeast Missouri (153) was fun, but there's no reason we couldn't get some better teams.</div>

Are not the teams from the old Southwest Conference? My brother played ball at Baylor and played at Minute Maid in a round robin similar to what you are talking about and it was all southwest conference teams.

Baylor is coming back next year... as well as Kentucky.

Vandy played here a few years ago....

It ALWAYS has Rice and Houston in the tournament. And you can bet that Texas or A+M are one of the third teams....

OK State, Texas Tech, and Baylor all seem like repeated visitors as well.

I think if the Abraham kid from Houston is going to be a real contributor at MSU, we should leverage his playing time/success in the Houston area.... They have great high school baseball here and getting a pipeline to recruits here would be pretty sweet. Our players would also be jacked about playing at a pro stadium... and Minute Maid (although I'm a diehard Cards fan) is a very unique and interesting stadium. I've watched baseball in over 20 major league ball parks and Minute Maid might be the most unique park I've been too. It really is very nice.

it's probably better we didn't schedule top tier teams. We'd get smoked. Maybe next year or the year after, though.

will always be in it also..but it was interesting how they ugh changed it this year.. Texas ended up playing a non-counting conference game against Mizzo instead of playing TCU...
Damn good games vs Rice (W 2-1) and Houston (L 0-1) though....Jungman is <17>n sick.
