I know it is uncommon for Duke to slide in the rankings ever, but in all fairness our schedule has been pretty weak to date and we do have 2 losses....With better teams ahead we will either rise back up or continue to fall.

I was shocked the coaches poll we were #10. We currently constructed are just not a top 10 team and i'm not sure we will be the rest of the season. We're just way way to thin for us to seriously consider a run. Maybe Jeter develops and we can get some serviceable help from someone like Obi or Vrank, but chances of that happening aren't likely. We'll need to beat the teams we're supposed too and hope to get a win or two that we're not. 12-6, 11-7 type of year to me is likely in the ACC, which could presumably keep us in the top 25 all season, which is all I care about.

I'm still not buying the Wake loss either. I guess it wouldn't shock me, but Wake is a pretty young team too. Just have this feeling Ingram has a big game. We'll need to neutralize Devin Thomas....which I know isn't easy.

As for the rankings....we're probably right about where we should be.

I'd say for the rankings in the AP, it's about right, for where we are in the season. The coaches having us at 10 in my opinion is not accurate. I don't think we're a better team than Miami for instance, and in both polls they should be ahead of us. I'm trying to stay realistic with this team, the loss of Jefferson really really hurts this team.

We'll lose more ground after the Wake loss.

After last year's loss, I think the coaches will have Duke ready for this one.
I think we'll be ok if we can defend the fast break, which at times this year we've struggled quite a bit.

We didn't lose to Wake last year, unless i'm missing something in your post.

After a few top 10 teams in the nation is there really much difference in the next say, 10 or 15 teams?

Wake always plays Duke tough at home, I wouldn't be surprised one bit if they won, they gave Duke all they could handle last year and Wake returns most of their talent. Devin Thomas will be a handful.

Kills me that KU has played 11 guys in 15 minutes. I know it's not K's preferred method, but Duke is stuck at 6.5 man rotation (without Amile).

I think there is something to be said about playing too many guys. Duke's problem this season is that the depth is either too young or not quite talented enough. Help is coming next year. The bench will be bigger.

Surprised to see that VT beat UVA last night. VT is off to a 2-0 start in conference play with wins over NC State and UVA. We don't want to take them lightly.

Watched the entire OU-KU game. Probably the best game i've seen in a long long time (non Duke since i'm biased). Awesome AWESOME game- big shot after big shot, Hield was unbelievable. Kudos to both squads.

Both teams went to a 5 man TOPS 6 man rotation the last 7-8 min of the game before the OTs, in which they stuck with the same 5-6 guys, until one of them fouled out.

That Kansas/OU game was just phenomenal. So glad I stayed up for it. The number of seriously-contested 3s that were hit, in crunch time no less.... Wow.

It was an incredible game. I had my doubts about Oklahoma....but they're for real. Hield just made one big shot after another.

I talked in another thread about how we witnessed two great performances last night from Brice Johnson and Buddy Hield, but yet other players had spectacular games too --- Paige, Rathan-Mayes, Ellis and Woodard --- but no one is talking about those guys. As a college basketball fan it was a pretty fun night....that certainly could have been even better with an FSU victory.

How about Malik Beasley? That could impressed the hell out of me last night. Love his game.

Don't forget the shootout between London Perrantes and Zach LeDay. That was a very good game too. Tech exposed some things with UVA, a propensity for turnovers for one.

It's not a big deal. Think about it for a second....166 freakin' weeks. That's amazing. Even more amazing? Before that it was 200 straight weeks.
