It is sad to say, but apathy has arrived for me. I am not seeing any light at the end for any type of turnaround this year. The play calling hasn't improved. The players aren't improving. It is just going to be a long cold winter. I don't even look at this board hardly anymore. So like a Ground Hog, "Good Night".

Im flying in from Chicago to see the game, regardless of our current struggles. We all adjust our emotions based on the season/record. That said, I will never not care about the Huskers. Thats on you.

Have you not heard? The apathy set it so strongly most are saying 3-4 years.

I just posted in another thread about how long I have been watching crappy Royals baseball for years and the emotional investment I have in the team. And how satisfying this last couple of years are. I guess I just don't get "fans" like you. I can't just bail on "my" team(s). I may get mad, lower my expectations for a season, or get mad and scream for changes in certain areas, but I just can't quit on my team.

So hopefully, you're just a little pissed like the rest of us now. And I know it kind of sucks to be a Nebraska fan right now. It will get better, though. That may be two years from now. ten years from now, or fifteen years from now. Sticking it out with "your team" is just something you just don't think about doing, you just do. That is, unless you do not have the emotional investment in that specific team. Then you are not a fan, anyway. You are just a casual observer.

Being a fan just makes it that much sweeter when "your" team, that you have lived and died with, watched suck, and watched be very good and come up just short, get to the top. I felt that way in 85. I felt that way in 94. I felt that way in 95. I felt that way in 97. And I feel like that now again in 2015. It really sucks for you that we will never experience the highs that I have felt, because, obviously, you are not invested like some of us are.

So, go ahead, by all means, bail out and if you can emotionally do that, you were never an actual fan anyway. Not a big deal to me or probably the majority of us here that are fans. But, I can guarantee you it will suck for you when they do win and win big, again. Even if you do decide to "follow" them again, it just won't have the same sweet taste when a return to the top takes place that the rest of will feel. Simply because we are fans and we are emotionally invested with our team, win or lose.

Apathy, maybe. But this is just too horrific of an accident..........just have to keep watching. Better yet, the scurrying of administrators/supporters from Harv, Eich and Pettit doing their best damage control is beyond comical. Why leave, way too fun to watch!

Fun is watching competitive football...not watching a bunch of admin's toss out BS spin to try and manipulate facts. That said, nothing is changing for at least one more season so I guess we'll get to see how those results go...

The "powers that be" at UNL are like the powers in D.C. that say they govern. No one has any faith in them anymore. As a Husker fan since 1955,
ever known anyone who went to the one and only Gotham Bowl (Huskers won!), I'm losing interest (guess that's apathy) and now with HP still
involving himself in the football program (sheesh, he's retiring in June 2016), I'm thinking the perfect storm of disaster for the Husker program
can't get any worse.

I cannot speak for the OP but I understand the feelings of doom, disappointment and dread at the prospects for the remainder of this season. That is not apathy but it feels hollow and hurting in some ways. I am not certain how this is going to end but as a Vegas resident and betting man, it does not appear that it can or will end well this year. The passion wanes for many but never disappears because it is hard to love a loser and easy to love a winner. But I love the Huskers nonetheless, enough to know that this year hurts and sucks and bites and.... well you get the idea. But rather than turn away from situation, I would rather be all the more supportive to make this better and get back to where we were.
