Has set in with this die hard Cat fan. Not even interested or excited about tonight’s game. Oh I’ll watch but with no emotion or hope that things will get better. This roster full of role players and underwhelming head coach just doesn’t invoke any hope. Am I the only one?

I am there. Going to the game and looking at it similar to going to the movies. Carson’s, Game, Stagger Inn- bed. Win or lose it’s just something to do.

Right now I’m angry. I think if all that goes on this season ends with Pope getting a 3rd year, I will probably stop watching Kentucky basketball for a few years. Even when they get a new coach I’m probably not going to bother until the new guy can prove he can be successful here. I just don’t have the motivation to continue if Pope faces no accountability. Why continue supporting something that makes me miserable?

I took a long break from this board for personal reasons and was soooo looking forward to a new coach, a new enthusiasm, a new era of Kentucky basketball but this season has crushed my spirits. I have stopped watching multiple games this year simply because it was obvious that we were going to lose and I get unbelievably upset so I walk away for a while.

Swapping cal for pope was always a fail. It was time for a change but not if that change was pope.
You don’t change things for the sake of changing things. There is a lot of randomness to the NCAA tournament and upsets happen. We overplayed our hand in saying we didn’t want Cal so he said ok and left. Whether it’s relationships or coaching jobs, you don’t start talking up the “I don’t need you” stuff until you have a back up ready. We had no backup ready.

I was ready to move on from Calipari for my own reasons but only if we could upgrade. I’m sorry, but we clearly did not upgrade.

Exactly. We had the opportunity to prove to the everyone that this program is bigger than Cal (it always has been, but Cal seemed to think otherwise), but we hired someone who has people laughing at us.

I think many of you forgot how bad it was Cals last years hear. The exact some rhetoric and vehemance came from the fans directed at Cal. "Embarrassment" "uk is no longer relevent" "we are Indiana" "we should never lose to that team" Coach sucks somebody pay for his buyout". Lets honestly look at the results of Popes first year and a half that Cal couldnt do his last years. Beat Duke, Gonzaga and other top 10 teams. Make it to the sweet sixteen and put UK first not the players. I think Pope is not the right fit here and needs to go at this time. But I and most others rejoiced when Cal left and still feel that way.

Apathy? That was 3 seasons ago with bad Calipari! I’m to the point now, I’m wanting Pope for 8-10 years+, for Mitch to get an extension, and JMI to get 50% royalties from every recruit idiotic enough to sign with UK!

Turn all that negative energy into some positive energy! Just learn to cheer for all of UK’s rivals, and you will be a WAY happier and a more productive person 👍🏼

No comprehende? A YouTube video of a prideful Kentucky song made you feel like a Hoosier? WHUT? 😶
Seeing great players, teams, and coaches from the past while current is 💩 with no end in sight is definitely more IU than what KY basketball should be.

At least they have football now!

I watch that video regularly, while we are good or while we are bad. It has nothing to do with the current product. It’s a cheesy, but catchy song that perfectly captures what Kentucky basketball means to the bluegrass. I’ve teared up watching it before.

We didn’t upgrade but we have found out what the real problem is for our bb program. Mitch barndik is the absolute inference for uk bb to stay atop cbb. I almost feel like barndik doesn’t want success for bb. He gets off watching fans suffer over our bb program. Look it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to bring in a world class coach but it does take a guy who cares and is a salesman. Not a used car salesman rather one who knows how to sell a mansion or a Bugatti.

When we get rid of Barney, hire a good coach, and get recruiting back to where it should be, my apathy for what is transpiring at Kentucky will be somehwat alleviated. In the meantime, this is all just a long continuance of what started back in 2019. Cal should have been gone then, and it's been a clusterfuck to watch ever since. Hence, I haven't been tuning in to live games very much over all these years. Sad. Very sad at how far Kentucky has fallen.

I didnt even know what time the game was when I looked just now (2:45pm where I am), not even knowing if the game might have been over. Not watching tonight either way. I have zero confidence we will win.

Oh I remember. But that’s only part of the picture. With cal it did seem he had lost his fastball and was flaming out of the tournament early. Absolutely. But you could always look at the incoming recruiting class and see hope for the future. I didn’t expect to rely just on freshman anymore. But as you can see this season, those 5 star studs are still game changers.

We are in purgatory with pope. It’s bad now and I doubt much changes this year. But we also have no one coming in to rescue us next year. His inability to recruit elite talent is why we are where we are now.

I used to never miss a game. The past 4 years I don’t care if I watch or not. I look at ESPN to see the final score. If we win, I watch highlights on YouTube. If we lose, I don’t watch anything and just read this board.
this is the thing many people I think don't take into calculation. many of us diehards have simply taken a timeout. older you get, when nothing changes???....apathy kicks in ...it's that simple. we made a mistake, whether you want to believe it or not, we made a huge mistake and it's going to pay us back right in our faces.....it already has, IS, and will CONTINUE.

Sad part is Kentuckys isn’t in a hurry to correct mistakes.

I don’t know how I can be enthusiastic about tonight or life in general right now.
Quit smoking weed a year ago and figured things would get better. Might curl up in a bed with Pope tonight lol. Can someone help me find some enjoyment?
