But for the record and something that everybody has completely forgotton is that after our 5 game run in the NCAAT last year Forde wrote a follow up article apologizing for his words and admitting Cal had, because of those 5 wins, a pretty good season.

Don't accuse me of being a UofL fan, I'm just telling it like it is.

Party on
I didn't know that so I went searching for the article that Forde wrote and found it. It says:

"That is great coaching.

Now this needs to be said, too: You're going to the Final Four with a team that is 100 percent of your making, and a team that is almost completely dependent upon freshmen. After providing about 64 games of ammunition since the 2012 title to those who weren't sure one-and-done was a sustainable way to build a program, you've supplied a powerful rebuttal. Three Final Fours in four seasons says that your way works - it works better than any other way currently being implemented in college basketball.

You proved your point, and your team is still playing. How good does that feel?"

Ironically, both Forde and Matt Jones changed their positions about things they said about Cal. I guess that is what it means to be in the media. Just spout off whatever is popular at the time and sometimes have to apologize or back down at a later date.
Thanks for that. I can at least have a modicum of respect for someone who wrote that after what he said. Of course I still consider him to be UK detractor, if not outright "hater". By being so he gets hits from the UL crowd, and even the UK one, and that's what matter's. Nobody sells many newspapers any more.

Whether we like Forde or not, he's has a national platform, how do you think he's gonna view the cats now? Think he'll be as apt to bite his tongue after that?
Uh... Maybe he will man up and say he was wrong and made a mistake. People, and even the BBN, respect that. It's clear it was an asinine thing to say in hindsight, he needs to just own it and say, "Wow, you proved me wrong."

Everyone is wrong occasionally, only the big people can admit it...

He already did. It is in the post just above yours. That is, if you are talking about Forde. He admitted he was wrong a year ago.

Let's not get carried away with this idea that both Jones and Forde said bad things about Cal and both have changed their minds. Far as I know, when people say Jones was critical of Cal while at Memphis, they're talking about a sentence he wrote in the comments section of an online piece. That's far different from Forde, who has a history of anti-Calipari crusading that covers years and years and thousands of words.

Second, I'm not really impressed with Forde's follow-up last year where he admitted he was wrong and seemed to congratulate Cal on a job well done. The initial "you made your bed" column got so much press, and the tournament results for Cal so spectacular, that Forde had to say "umm, sorry" or else he's exposed as the biggest *** in sportswriting. But think about the standard he holds Cal to. I ask you, would he ever have written that kind of piece about another coach? About Pitino? Pitino has had some disastrous years at Louisville - can we find any "Rick, you made your bed!" pieces in the Forde archives? Of course not. And what did it take for Forde to admit he was wrong last year? Only a trip to the national finals. It's about the benefit of the doubt, which he plasters all over RZp and completely withholds from Calipari. That's the system in play: praise RP all the time, rarely criticize him and downplay it when you do; for Cal, wait with baited breath for any provocation no matter how slight and then gig him, and only retract or apologize if wild success ensues.
