MSU's connection to the Internet was severed about 4 p.m. yesterday, May 6, and continues to be broken.</p>

People on campus can still use the campus network and web site but cannot reach off-campus sites.</p>

The problem reportedly resulted from an AT&T fiber cable which was cut between Jackson and Greenville.</p>

As of yet, there is no estimate on repair time.</p>

Students will find it more difficult to conduct research using online resources-- not only those at MSU and Ole Miss, but throughout the state. The MSU site is an official gateway to the state's MAGNOLIA databases. You don't have to access the MSU site to access the databases, but lack of access to MSU is definitely an unexpected curveball for people.
