that Mullen is going to reel in the big fish pretty soon. He thinks we have better than a 75% shot at getting bumphis, lampley, langston, kicker from coast, and thames. Also is starting to get a little wooly on aubrey phillips. This could get real interesting soon.</p>

Yancy is predicting Patterson and Norwood to OM and he says Fletcher Cox is "doable" for the rebs. (Inexplicably though, he says he has it on good authority that Tyler Russell is not that big of a priority. I laughed to myself and thought that.... Yeah?.. Well, buying Ferrari and banging a super model don't rank high on my priorities either, now that you mention it.)

The lines are converging as we speak and soon he and Rosebowl will both be quoting sources as saying Bumphis, Patterson, Norwood and Thames will commit to their school.

Robert Elliot Day looms....

Enjoy!

First off Yancy if full of **** if he thinks Cox is going to the webels. I think we are pulling thames, bumphis and lampley. Patterson is still up there but my gut feeling is that Tyler Russell is going to to make him head to us. If this all pulls together we would have a pretty special class of skill players. The line is a pressing concern as well, and if we could lure phillips away from tenn. that would help. I think Mullen is gonna do the work on the recruiting end.

why Kent Austin was hanging out on the Meridian sidelines at the Game in Jackson then? He stayed out of the players box, but made sure he was seen. Before the game, at the half, and after the game, he made sure Russell had to walk right past him.
I love how every year, without fail, if Ole Miss has no chance at somebody, that Yancy says they really don't want him.
Hey Yancy, get a little original, huh?

Cue Bruiser......

1 who gives a **** about Langston and Lampley. Are you worried about beating out UAB for them or Alcorn? Thames will be at MSU and I would bet Bumphis too. Yancy seems pretty confident on Patterson. He stated that Patterson was rooming with Norwood and that Ole Miss was in contact with both on Thursday and had a good conversation and he wouldn't be shocked if both went to Ole Miss. But you know if you heard a rumor that Norwood was going to Bama then it's probably fact. It's recruiting...things change.

I think the whole not a priority thing on Russell has more to do with not having a shot then not wanting. Yancy is high on the kid and pushed for him to improve his ranking and get another star. We have a much better shot at Cotton or McCarron. There are a lot of things Yancy says that I don't agree with but in this case he's reporting what he's hearing, same as rosebowl.

Apparently they are in on bigger fish.

Im pretty sure if AL has a spot for him he will go to Bama, but they may not have a spot for him.

I may be wrong on this but if he had no interest in Ole Miss to begin with which has been made very clear why would he be a priority? Why should we spend all our time trying to recruit a kid who doesn't want to come to Ole Miss at a position that isn't of great need this year and we are in on a few other good QB prospects? We already have our ferrari and supermodel on campus, you have a 5 foot tall midget.

Ole Miss isn't getting McCarron. You might get Cotton since he's not a high priority for anyone else. I heard he was one of the most inaccurate QB's on the camp circuit.

MSU has never really had a shot with Norwood. I don't know if we just didn't pursue him heavily or if he wasn't intersted in us. I think he would be a great get for MSU or Ole Miss, but I don't know if he is a high priority for Bama. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he signs with OM.

Croom and staff really mucked up the recruitment of Pat Patterson. Before the Mullen hire, we had no shot. Now, I think we have legitimate shot. I would say it's 50/50 or maybe a slight lean to Ole Miss. Hopefully, he has had a good time with Tyler and crew. I think it will come down to official visits on him.

There is an Ole Miss insider that is convinced Fletcher Cox is signing with Ole Miss, but this insider wants to keep it quiet. I'm not really buying it, but it has given Ole Miss fans a lot of hope.

Langston was the Juco Offensive Player of the year so he would be a solid pick up. Lampley would be a nice way to round out the class, but I agree, he is not a big-time player.

Mr. Cool Guy. Bringing out names like ferrari and supermodel to describe your players while downgrading our QB. Nice... bet you feel better about yourself now

C'mon guys...Steve is the same guy that told Bulldog Nation to get their tickets for the Rose Bowl a few years ago! If anyone buys what he says after that fiasco, well...they deserve that sinking feeling in the pit of their tummy when dissapointment sets in again...

Seven years ago. We don't let him forget that, but since then we've been treated to the Rebels crowing about a <font color="#FF00FF">"Wetuwn to Gwowy"....<font color="#000">followed by 4 years of sucking.</font></font>

which most people believe he is, then Norwood won't have a spot there, which will mean he ends up at OM unless someone else tries to get in late. Bama, OM, and USM are the only schools really going after Norwood, and he has stated several times he wants to play in the SEC.

Ya'll are going to get Thames, it is done. With Mullen I can't imagine you not getting Bumphis. He is behind Norwood at Bama and behind several more at UF. He doesn't seem to want to go to Ole Miss, but he didn't seem to want to go play for Croom either. When you hired Mullen, you got him.

I still think Patterson ends up at OM. With Croom, you have had no chance. Mullen might have gotten his attention, but I still think its too much ground to make up.

Steve usually has a pretty good idea about who a recruit is going to sign. However, reading some of the things Yancy has said in the past, he thinks alot of people have their heart set on Ole Miss. Did ya'll ever really think ya'll have a chance at Jamal Berry?

what we are doing with the AJ McCarron. We're giving him a place to fall if something happens.

I'm not totally against doing that.

I get the impression that Bama has cooled it on Norwood as I think they are gaining confidence in Randle. Randle and Jones is going to be ridiculous for a couple years. I think if Bama wants Norwood they will get him but I don't think they will want him in the end.

Ole Miss def has a shot with McCarron. It may not be a great one but he will be taking an official visit to Ole Miss. Through interviews I've read I get the feeling that he is not comfortable with Saban. Anything can happen with an official visit ala LeMarcus Williams couple years ago. (I think that's his name).

And on Raymod Cotton. Yeah who would want a super athletic QB with a rocket arm though somewhat inaccurate. They can never improve with college coaches coaching them up for a couple years. that was just a stupid point to make.

I hope you are right on Fletcher Cox. He is a huge get for whoever gets him. I get the feeling there is a small small chance if we can get him on an official visit.

and FWIW Patterson set up an official visit to Ole Miss on January 23rd and look for Norwood to come the same weekend.

OM and Russell were never a want, from either side. OM doesn't have to take a QB this year, but will take one if they get what they want. There's McCarron (low chance), Cotton (medium), and at least two others that I know of that they're keeping quiet (I know one name, don't know the other name).

Norwood doesn't have a commitable offer from Bama that I'm aware of. Things may have changed recently, but last I was told he would've already commited but the coaches there won't accept it....yet. He will likely end up at OM if he doesn't get a legit offer to Bama.

Cox, Boyd, Thames, Skinner, and probably Bumphis will end up at State. Its not a given for Bumphis, but he's not even thinking about UF. Its between OM and MSU. He'll wait until he takes official visits to each before a decision is made. Alabama is behind both of the in-state schools.

Pat Patterson will sign with Ole Miss.

Jacoby Bell won't make his grades.

Aubrey Phillips will stay in-state. Its between OM and MSU.

Hardy will be USM or OM.

Conner to OM.

Only 14 MS players have gotten an offer from OM, compared to many more from State. There are several MSU commits that never got any verbal or written offer from OM (Lawrence, Whitley as examples). I wouldn't be surprised if Mullen drops some of your current MS commits.</p>

That recruiting strategy worked out real well for Crxxm. You always need to sign a QB, every year.

Why so certain about Patterson to Mississippi? He's quoted as saying that with the Mullen hire he's going give MSU a good look and he thinks he could be a good fit in our offense.

in Nathan Stanley out of Oklahoma.

They were set to sign Clayton Moore, but we all know what happened there. Its likely that they will sign a QB, but it may not be the first choice. If no "high quality" QB is signed this year, they will sign a minimum of 2 next year. Thats the plan as of now, but it can change as we get closer to NSD.

I have no doubt that Patterson will give MSU another look, maybe even an official visit.

But from what I've heard, you can book him to Ole Miss.

Thats from the same person that told me its more likely Bumphis to MSU than OM.

And no, none of this is from Yancy.

Edit: And from what I've also been told, Nutt's staff is much higher on alot of the OOS talent than they are MS kids. They aren't big on the whole "babysitting" thing that many MS kids require. Also, Mullen will have much better pull and a tougher concentration on OOS kids in the classes outside of this one. In the coming seasons with these two staff's you're going to find the amount of MS players with offers from OM and MSU dwindle from the Orgeron/Croom days.

Austin so far up Russell's butt the other night then?

Ole Miss would sign Russell in a minute if they thought they could.

he was not freezing his *** off down there and watching every move Russell made, and positioning himself to be seen by Russell, for no reason. Croom had been fired and they thought they had a chance. The only time he watched the field was when Russell was out there. He spent the rest of the time talking to some bald headed shrimp in glasses, wearing a long black jacket.

let it go. To keep holding him accountable for an overzelous prediction made 8 years ago means you're an idiot.

Plus, ever since he became the lead recruiting reporter for GP, he's been extremely fair and realistic.

It's because we don't think we can get him. They'd sign him in a minute if they could. However, unlike Ed Orgeron and staff, you are not going to see this staff pour countless hours into recruiting someone we don't think we can get. We only got onto Josh Boyd (i.e. setting up an official) because we contacted the State commits when Mullen was fired and he seemed interested because of the uncertainty. Now that they have a coach he likes, I expect him to stay at State. Fletcher Cox is a guy they seem to think they can turn. I don't think they can, but we will see. They don't think they can turn Russell.

They've cooled on Bumphis because of the three in-state guys, they think they have the least chance of signing him. Not because they all of the sudden decided he wasn't any good.
