Depends on what all you want on it, if you can't understand the difference between this and an iphoneI can't help you.

People are buying Kindles for $260 right now and it is nothing more than a digital reader. I definitely wouldn't want to work on the iPad, but as an entertainment device, for movies, internet, e-mailing, reading, games, music, etc., it is awesome.

I am sure it has wireless access. Now if you want to get internet in the boons, you will have to buy a data plan. It's basically a netbook but it has a touchpad instead of a keyboard from what I could decipher in 3 minutes.

But you don't HAVE to buy a data plan. It will work on your home WIFI just like your regular computer.

ipad, sounds like a good SNL skit. ipad for women's monthly needs. I see a woman with a box that looks like tampons, and then she pulls out the large iphone and then says it handles the heaviest flow days.

For those of you complaining that it is just like the iPhone, did you stop to think that maybe there is a reason for that? It has been mildly successful.

Year 2245, Osama Bin Laden puts out a tape saying he is responsible for blowing something up on Mars.

I think he's dead.

They are cheaper and pretty and you can read e-books on them. Pretty soon you will be able to read e-books on your phone. The Kindle is a waste of money...

Plus it has no USB, no flash, and you can not multitask on it. I just don't see why you would choose the iPad over a netbook.

I love the design but I find it hard to believe they didn't include multi-tasking. It has a blazing 1Ghz processor that is basically wasted without multi-tasking. I love my iphone and wouldnt trade it but that is my biggest complaint with it. I want to be able to listen to pandora or siriusxm while browsing. Maybe the next iteration of the iPad will include it. Until then, if I were going to buy a device like this I'd just take a current netbook.

It's a neat gadget, easy to use, and, most importantly, it's a "fashion statement". The people that buy these things don't care about USB, Flash, and multitasking. They care about pulling that thing out of their man purse so they can set in on their table at Starbucks.

Steve Jobs is a genius. He's figured out how to turn tech into a pop culture. He will make you buy his **** or he will eat your children. Give in, you know you want to.

i could be wrong, but that's what i am getting.

someone in the comments hit the nail on the head:

intravenus_de_milo 03:25 PM

Why did they not include USB, so it could be connected to an external hard drive and used as a true laptop?? You still have to sync with your Mac or your PC to put music and videos on it. It doesn't appear to support multitasking. How do you travel with this thing since it can't be used independently without frequent syncing with another computer? No flash support. No camera. And to play music, it only has one speaker??? ONE??? Reply

It doesn't ship for another 60 days anyways, so don't throw it out yet.

But I agree, it needs to be able to multitask Mail, Safari, and iChat at the minimum for it to fully be useful.

You will buy that one, too. Crack dealers give only a taste at first.

and for any of you who try to compare PC to mac are basically scared of change and not techy enough to realize the differences between the two.....want to just surf the internet and read sixpack? fine, buy a pc......its the cheapest route....want to do things with your computer? buy a mac, plan and simple and its easy to learn....when you do finally learn how to use it, you will then kick yourself in the balls for not buying one sooner....

as far as a netbook is concerned, those are the biggest pieces of **** every to hit the computer world....I have one my company gave me in a sales contest, and it is currently collecting dust under my office desk in my home....the iPad is gonna be badass for those who like mobile **** and refuse to use a netbook......

'he will make you buy his ****...."......because its so awesome...

Plus, it gives them a new Apple sticker to put on their VW or Subaru.
If your post doesn't unleash the e-fury, maybe this will (it's three years old, but still...)

1) put a camera on it. video that you can capture stills from. not that hard. would be really cool if they combined with flip and used some of their technology.

2) put a lcd micro projector on there. yes, they have this now for cell phones and apple needs to put one on the pad.
