If Appomattox can win it all this year they will become the only 2A school to win 3 straight state titles in football, I think. I don't know about 1A since 1986. The most consecutive title games is held by Lunenburg Central at 7, 1984 to 1990. I think they will win it but would like to see Union win but they will not get out of Region D. Correct me if I'm wrong about the record.

I think you will find the answer at Vhsl.org in their updated Record Book.pdf. It is usually a link on right-hand side of page. On their search field, type football or state champions. Also, try VHSL-reference.com

One game at a time should be the focus for all teams not only during regular season but especially during playoff time!

PV never could get three in a row, it's TOUGH.
PV went back to back three times, but never got three. Once got four in five years but not three jn a row. Actually managed to win six in ten years but never three jn a row. If Appo can do it, it's a huge accomplishment

Giles is our focus, next team up is how we roll. Gotta shut down that single wing. It was tiff last year, Giles knows how to eat that clock, they score we better score. I believe it will be close but ai still have FA17H in our PO1.... #BeatGiles

I hope both teams play their best, the refs let them play, no kids get hurt and the best team wins. I'm kind of partial to those Spartans, had some good games with PV during the Steve Ragsdale days. Don't know much about Appo except they have a fine coach and talented and classy kids, oh yea I heard their fans are great too. Should be a packed house. Is the game on internet radio?

Gretna had good run from 2007-2011. Winning it in 2007 & 2008. 2009 lost to Essex 8-0 in state semi on last second drive after not converting on first and goal on two drives in game, one twice on 1 yard line. Essex went on to win state easily. Then in 2010 losing state championship by 11 to Gate City who controlled ball and clock entire game. If I remember correctly Gretna only got ball 4-5 times in game and Gate City kept drives alive about 5-6 times with 4th down conversions. Had our best lb still injured in that game. Then they win it again in 2011. They were so close to five in a row. Basically 2-3 plays from five in a row but yes it is very hard to do.
