Giles just scored on 2 nd team defense ! And now 2 nd team offense in . So as they say warm up the bus baby it's over ,

Appomattox is the real deal. Tons of speed and atheletism. This game wasn't even competitive in any way whatsoever. If Giles knew how to wrap up and tackle it may have been more competitive. I don't know what Giles has coming up for next year but I know they are a young team. I know they had a lot of injuries and wish them luck next season.

Agree Winger. I didn't hear anyone from Giles say that Appo wasn't the real deal. I had someone from Floyd tell me today that they had seen Martinsville and Dan River and if there were teams better than them in 2A they'd be surprised. They had not seen Appomattox. I don't think we saw all their weapons tonight. I suspect they could have passed more but didn't have to. Lot of speed, size and quickness. I think they'd give Salem a fit. To beat them somebody is gonna have to spread them out and match their speed and that's gonna be tough. I hope Union has better luck with the travel next week than we did. It will be 6-7 hour trip for them. (and please don't interpret that as an excuse for losing) We got beat by a much better team. End of story. And as for the horn, in the first half Appo's band was making horn noises every time Giles came to the line on offense and called signals so I'm not sure what the big deal was about our horn. And no that didn't make any difference in the outcome either. I said earlier this week that to win Giles would have to play a perfect game and get help from Appo. After seeing them play I don't think perfect play by Giles defeats all the weapons they have.

Giles played a good game but could not match the speed of Appomattox's players. Running the ball and controlling the clock might work when you are ahead but when you are behind by 3 TD's, the passing game needs to open up the field. Not sure how much experience they have in passing formations.
I did see some interesting single wing plays from Giles. That number 6 is a great player.
This is the problem, people are worried about "respect". Who really cares? Appo destroyed Giles, in every aspect of the game. Appo doesn't need the respect from Giles, but Giles should respect that hind-end whooping they just received. Appo put on an absolute clinic out there. Tough to watch such talent discrepancies.
Show me where anyone from Giles has disrespected Appo, U cant. Stop with that statement already. Yes they are good, Giles got beat and so will everyone else that playes them. I don't get it from u. Careful how u run that Jaw. Giles might just be the team to beat next year and Appo is losing most. Careful careful. If u hate Giles that much then fine, but come up with something different then Giles has showed no respect for Appo. Before and after this game I have seen nothing but respect for them.
No, I'm not from Appo (thanks for clearing that up), but I was referencing the game week antics from posters about Giles. The thing that really irritated me was there was a statement made in the context that Giles would be competitive for the shear fact that they had a storied program. The success of Giles from 10 years ago has nothing to do with this year's Giles team and it most certainly is playing no affect on how good of a football team Appo is this year. I found it comical that someone would bring up the past to try and justify that this would be competitive. Giles past success has the exact same affect on the game that their horn does, none. There were no players from Giles that acted in ANY disrespectful way, I was stating purely from a game week VA Preps perspective.
Heres the thing...Giles played pretty damn hard last night and lost....couple things went different in the second it might have not stung quite so bad.....NOBODY from Giles has disrespected Appomattox in any way....so hopefully if there's some annomosity from 2013 you can feel justified last night....I've read this thread....no disrespectful comments....Giles has been in the mix for years....hell, we're not used to losing like we did last night....but still gave respect as I left....so get over yourself and learn how to be a good fan....a fan that currently has the best team in the state...enjoy it...respect your team by acting like you should....
Im also pretty sure that statement was not made by a Giles fan. Good football teams come in cycles, we all know that. Especially in 1 2 and 3 A programs. Appo is going through thiers now, Glenvar before that, Giles before that ect. Maybe what that poster was trying to say is Giles has very few down years or losing seasons. Def not always a state contender but usually a playoff team. Everybody that knows football understands your name gets you nothing.
I guess I need to clarify some things on here ! I did not call out anyone and say anybody had disrespected appo as said on this tread, that did come from another tread so I stand corrected if it was taken that way ! I don't personally know anyone on here as no one knows me , so from that I do follow high school football and have been fo a long time across the state of va , I am not into calling someone out unless there is reason for so. The game last nite was a good game and I do believe appo was just better at this point than Giles this year . I thought the two teams meetin together at the end of game at midfield was awesome , way to go Giles and appo for that ! Apologies to all !!

It is Marshall it's just both teams were given the chance to meet and have a prayer ! Thought that was awesome for the players and phrase for the coaches !
