Still early for this, but Ive seen it asked twice in other threads. If we finish 5-7 and there are academic exceptions allowed, here is a look at where we stand.

Our APR is 979, which ranks us 45th in the nation.

Florida is the only potential SEC team ahead of us. Just listing teams that could be 5-7 that are ahead of us overall:

North Carolina (3-5)
Clemson (3-5)
NC State (4-4)
Stanford (3-6)
Rice (4-5)
Army (4-4)
Kansas State (4-5)
UCF (4-4)
West Virginia (3-6)
Liberty (4-4)
Ball State (3-5)
Florida (3-5)

There are 41 bowl games this year, so 82 spots.

51 teams have qualified.
21 teams (including State) are one win away from being eligible.
19 teams are two wins away

16 teams are mathematically out. Another 17 are one loss away from being out.

This is probably why the SEC helped us win with all those penalties for them.

While we only had 4 penalties for 30 yards.

Of note, the SEC has 9 eligible teams so far, with LSU and State one win away. Auburn is 4-5 and would have to beat Vanderbilt or Alabama to get to 6, so 12 SEC teams look to be the best we are going to do.

If four teams get to the playoff,
5th team goes to Citrus
6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th go to the Group of 6 bowls (Music City, Duke's Mayo, Liberty, ReliaQuest, Texas, Gator)
12th team goes to Gasparilla
13th to Birmingham
14th to Armed Forces

I don't think we will have enough to get past the Gasparilla, and unless Auburn pulls a major upset, we would likely be in the Group of 6 even if we got the APR spot

Just spit balling:

Georgia, Alabama, Texas A&M and Ole Miss to playoff
Oklahoma to the Citrus

Tennessee, Texas, Vanderbilt, Missouri, LSU and Mississippi State to the Group of 6
