The worst of the staff working the game Saturday were at the NW stand behind the student section. I ordered chicken tender basket, 2 corndogs, and a ice tea. Guy put the chicken and 1 corndog down in front of me and walked off. Money had already been paid. I had to ask for the other corndog, he said it would be 20 minutes, I said never mind, I'll take what I've got and go, just give me a refund for the dog, but I still need my tea. Had to beg for the tea. He didn't think I actually ordered it. I said it's 90 degrees, the damn tea was the most important thing. No receipt to prove I paid for tea. He acted pissed as he put ice and tea in the cup. I was still standing there wondering about the money back for the dog, and just finally said forget it, and walked back to my seat, it's just $2, right? BS. He wanted to pocket the money for the tea and the other dog. I get they don't make a lot of money, but what a joke of so-called service.

Paging John Cohen. This is some ****** concessionaires.

If they run the cafeteria, they have ruined it too. If they don’t run it, somebody else has ruined it.

The cafeteria does suck now. I went there before the Southern Miss game because I like to eat there once a year or so. Everything was closed except the grill and pizza station. The pizza sucked and dude was frying burgers on white bread and serving with cold french fries.

It was disappointing.

They served turkey and dressing before the egg bowl year before last and it was pretty good, but I'm sure it will suck this year.

How about no lunch last Saturday before the Kentucky game? Still doing breakfast your stuff at noon. I asked the workers what time they started serving lunch. 10:30 she said. I said it’s 11:45. “Oh, well I think we just doing brunch today”.

I don’t want pancakes at noon before a 3:00 kickoff.

Nobody knew what was going on and did not care......at all.

$22 for me and my daughter. She hated it and so I then had to go buy something else at the Union.

Cafeteria before games while sitting and visiting has been our thing for years. It’s over.

I still don’t know why MSU contracts out all of its food services....I know they would have to be state employees, but it looks like MSU is missing out on a big revenue stream..

At least you can get some 17ing chicken tenders. None of the new concession items that Cohen so gleefully said would be available this year are offered to us in the upper deck seats. Just the same old hotdogs and nachos. I asked one of the workers if there were any plans to offer those in our area and she said as far as she knew there were not. So if any of us riffraff in the cheap seats want something else to eat we have to fight the crowd for the elevator up and down or walk the ramps. Either way we miss a chunk of the game for this BS. So Cohen, if you read the board, this is absolutely piss poor pathetic. You don't 17ing advertise new game day enhancements and then not offer them to a large section of the fan base.

They contract it out because dining was losing 100,000.00 per year

Running the dining, at least a decade ago or so, was losing MSU pretty good money. Plus, when aramark signs contracts they also take over and add infrastructure. For example, Fresh Foods (where the old tennis courts used to be by Allen Hall) was paid for by Aramark and Perry kitchen was completely renovated on Aramark's dime. DOn't fall for the trick of Aramark isn't making money.....they are. BUT, they are designed to run dining options for students, primarily. Concessions and catering are afterthoughts, it feels like. I agree that something needs to change, but it is a give and take relationship with the university.

The concessions are terrible. I'm not necessarily complaining about the workers at the stands, as they have generally been very nice (and volunteers correct?), but the food and selections are just plain pathetic. There are a few more options on the lower levels (BBQ, Mugshots, etc) but the upper deck and club levels on the west side are beyond bad. Our options are soggy nachos with cold canned cheese, or a cold hot dog with a soggy bun.

This is just another example of something IB needs to fix, and fix quickly is he wants people to come to the stadium. Also, does he really not care that the lower west side has the most uncomfortable seating arrangement in all of college sports? That chunk of concrete must have been poured in the 1920's.

Paging John Cohen. RENOVATE THE WEST SIDE!

Yeah. I had a nasty hot dog and some popcorn for lunch at the Kansas St. game. I get that the prices are dirt cheap, but I would be a lot happier if I could pay 3 times as much for a halfway decent burger or chicken tenders and some fries or chips. The popcorn was actually pretty good though.

The cafeteria started taking a nosedive circa 2006-7. Which, coincidentally, is probably when Aramark took it over.

I'd eat there often as a freshman..... not so much as a 5th year in 2010-11.

They had burgers, hot dogs, and pulled pork where the kids zone is during tailgating. There was barely anyone there, but they cooked the burgers to order. It was pretty good.

The cafeteria in the late 90s was great.

Concession stands suck. I don't even bother going. The stand alone food/lemonade stands suffice and have bottled water - I haven't really eaten in the games I've made this year as they have been at 3, and I just eat before or after at the tent.

I was, however, pleased with the quality of food and ease of using the tailgate catering. Very polite and quick. I even forgot to confirm my order on the email they sent so they called me Friday morning for confirmation.

I didn't see anything in the job description that the food has to be good. Lots of modern buzzwords, but nothing about quality food.

Perry Cafeteria sucks, its easily the worst. I remember when I was a kid (in the early 2000s) we would eat at Perry before the game or whatever, and it used to be pretty good. Just a shame that the quality has gone downhill. Fresh foods is pretty decent. Templeton is pretty darn good, but its only open on weekdays.

Mid 90's when I was at MSU, I thought Perry was very good. My son at State now, says not so much.

This is coming from my experience with contractors in the workplace. You get what you pay for.

1971-1975.

Cafeteria breakfast was a real price performer for starving, broke students.

2 eggs, grits, toast, bacon, coffee for $.58. Might have been $.52 - long time ago...

I always made sure I ate breakfast at the cafeteria, even if it was instant oatmeal for lunch and dinner.

Some days, if I was flush, I'd spend a dime on a CL so I could get spun up over the Umiss bullshxt in what was a rag even back then.

There used to be a lady in the cafeteria who made omelets and they were awesome, but they were 100% served with a scowl. This lady didn’t give a **** if you had a good day or not. Just take your eggs and get the 17 out of here.

It was awesome. We called her Sunshine.

I recall one time in about '77 when it snowed about 6 inches. Several of us swiped trays from the cafeteria and went sliding on the hill between Evans and Suttle. There was a place back then called the Bulldog Grill right around the corner from the cafeteria. I pushed my tray right off on the floor at the cash register one time in there. Got a standing O from the other diners, but the dude in the white uni frowned.

Aramark sucks. I work at a community college in Louisiana. We hired Aramark to run the cafeteria and provide food for special events. A disaster. Bad food, terrible organization. The school fired them.

Seems like Foodservice Management should be in the MSU catalog.

As a country, nobody cooks anymore. Seems like a natural extension of our Ag, Food Science and Ag Business catalogs.

I understand the accountant's view of outsourcing for strict cost control, but we have the resources to build a better Aramark in our own backyard. Then teach how to do it.
