When it comes to State Archie Manning can not restrain himself. Whenever he gets a chance he takes a shot at MSU. I think he's still butthurt over some hits Joe Lee Dunn's D put on Eli.

his humility and what a great person and father he is...then it all gets washed away whenever the subject of Mississippi State comes up.....his true colors come through..his achilles' heel...so to speak...but of course we're not their rival...so it really doesn't matter.

Drew Brees has taken the mantle as the face of the Saints franchise historically and he beat Archie's boy to do it.

I'm also glad that the most public Ole Miss fan this side of Shep Smith is reduced to hoping that we get put on probation because that appears to be the only thing that would stop Dan right now from completely taking over.

And I'll say this-after all of this Cam Newton stuff, Ole Miss fans might want to be real careful if they want to try to buy a player out from under Dan Mullen, because LT ain't around to stop him and Dan will take them down.

(Bruiser to the rescue- I apologize)

If I recall correctly didn't ole Bill Bell specifically say he helped Brent Schaffer get into Tennessee. I'm guessing they never spoke again, before he reappeared as the Second Coming in the SEC at that school in Oxford. Also, I remember seeing something about Bell's first interview saying something about assisting Park Ranger Masoli this year.

Neither team will ever "completely take over." If we couldn't do it while you had Croom, or you couldn't do it while we had Orgeron, etc. etc. We went to two Cotton Bowls in a row, and now we are looking at up to you. You went to one bowl in 10 years, and here you are looking down at us.

And, here is one Ole Miss fan that is not hoping you go on probation. I wish none of this was going on. And, while I understand your position that buying a player out from under you will not be tolerated, I don't think inviting the NCAA into our conference is beneficial to anyone long term. Slive has screwed us and yall at every turn, but I actually liked his policy of self-policing. If Auburn goes on probation, Alabama will follow. If you go on probation, we will follow. No one wins in the tell all contest.

It is a dirty game.

We are not going on probation. We didn't paythe Newtons. We reported the request for money. See how that goes? We didn't turn AU in, we don't know if they paid him or not. Their problem. And, pray tell, when did Slive screw y'all? He didn't make an under the table deal to force y'all to hire the Big O did he? And, Alabama has been on the last probation they'll see for another 30 years.

LikeSelmon said, "there's always an uncle." This one's name has yet to surface. But you can bet he has nothing to do with MSU.

long before you went to two Cotton Bowls.

It's like Dan said- there is a program on the rise in this state, and it ain't you.

I honestly believe that you would have never talked with the SEC if you weren't sure your house was clean. At the same time, I am not saying you are the virtuous program either. If you honestly believe you (or Ole Miss or any other program in the SEC) is squeaky clean, then there is nothing to discuss here.

True, right, accurate or total misconception, your boosters going public in November on Cam and the effect it will have on his eligibility could create the environment that existed when we were hiring PI's to take down Jackie. See what I did there?

The us against them intra-conference was something Slive tried to stop. Up until Cam, he had.

Also, there are numerous instances where Ole Miss feels slighted by the SEC. However, I doubt my reciting them would convince you, so I will not waste my time. (Doyle Jackson for craps and giggles.)

I should limit my rare sixpack comments to posters like 8dog, dawgstudent, et. al.

It seems you have the tendency to go all Eggbowl Todd. Night.

Yes, I see what you did there. You admitted what we already know.

You do realize that Slive's plan didn't work because of his favoritism, don't you? Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on you. He couldn't keep all the balls in the air.

Surely, you are not saying that Ole Miss benefited from Slive's favoritisim. What I did was acknowledge that I am not for a moment saying Ole Miss is virtuous and MSU is da debil.

There is no doubt that favoritism exists in Birmingham, and I hesitate to a slight degree in standing against MSU's position with Cam that shines the light on that favoritism. I just believe that the short term gain of exposing the conference here could be far less than beneficial when compared to the long term consequences for the lesser teams in the conference. Good luck with that though. I am thankful you guys are leading that charge, and I can only hope the ramifications of such charge are limited to the program that challenged the old guard.
