Are most ole miss fans this stupid?

I don't post here much, but thought I would share this... I was at the Bham Barons game last night wearing one of my many MSU shirts. I heard a guy say, "hey, Mississippi State". So, I turn around, and this guy says, "hey, aren't y'all tied for 1st in the West?". The question stunned me and then I noticed "ole miss" on his shirt. Thinking he was trying to start something, I asked him, "are you that stupid? oh yeah, you are since you have ole miss written on your shirt". I then calmly turned back around to watch the game. I'm thinking since this guy is at a baseball game and is wearing an ole miss shirt he knows that they are battling for the west and overall title and that we suck, and he is trying to start something with me. Well, to make a long story short, he had no clue that ole miss was in contention for the overall title and we are having one of our worst years in history. Man, are most ole miss fans this stupid?

like the guy was being a douche probably with the aid of a few beverages since this was at a baseball game.

Every fanbase has them.

...he may have had a few cold ones too, but, he seemed pretty lucid to me and we actually talked for a few minutes. He really had no clue ole miss was having a good season and we sucked that bad. It was pretty funny.

And Roscoe, there were a lot of kids around so I didn't want to get into it with him. Actually kinda felt sorry for the clueless chap.

but there are a ton of fans from all schools who simply don't keep up with baseball. Football is the sport that most fans keep up with. My Dad is one that doesn't care for baseball but loves football. I doubt it makes him stupid. Geez.

Yea, I grew up an Ole Miss fan, but I really never knew anything about our baseball team until I got to college. That's when I started following and have been following ever since. There are a lot of fans that just don't keep up with it. They just don't exist on these message boards for the most part.

so no I didn't just pick up on it because we were doing well. The first two years I really followed it, we got knocked out early in a regional and didn't make one.

I'd guess that over half of the fans you see on a fall Saturday don't follow college baseball, and that's at schools with good baseball programs.

My point was that I rarely even looked at a box score for baseball when I was growing up and I grew up following Ole Miss basketball and football religiously, so I can attest to the fact that a lot of fans don't even follow the sport. Keep in mind, when I was a kid, our basketball program had made one NCAA tourney appearance, and I think I remember seeing us play one game in the NIT as a kid, and we still followed the team religiously, yet I never knew a thing about what our baseball team was doing until I got to college and started going just because I could get in free and it was something to do.

It didn't take me long to get into it though once I was finally exposed to it. I think most fans would be the same way, but like I said, I'll bet that over half of the fans at your campus on a football Saturday couldn't tell you anything significant about the baseball program even at the biggest baseball schools.
