The whiteout looked outstanding. Watched the game on DVR last night when I got home and it looked even better on TV.

now if the administration will "get it" and never let the athletic department be dominated by good-ole-boy LT type ******** again we can be on our way. The MSU fan base is ready to rally around a good football program.....big time .

....a note taped to the cash register that said "UGA week, West side maroon, East side white" (or maybe I have the sides reversed). Haven't heard this anywhere else. Would be cool though.

PS: Anybody like the white pullover windbreaker that Mullen often wears? Campus Book Mart lady told me they have a handful left and that Adidas is not shipping any more of them. So if you want one and see one, you better snap it up.

in 2004, the admin provided shirts for a maroon-out. Maybe 60% participation.

FWIW, I suffered through 4 quarters wearing that "Maroon is all that matters" XL. But I still think doing what you can to make the average fan aware makes a difference.

dressing properly is a symptom but "getting it" to me meansthe joint effort and the dedicationby the adminstration and fans working as a team to take the program up several levels. One can`t do it with out the other. The fans have been sitting on go for some time.

-The junction seems much more organized to me. (This could be because we got a better tailgate spot this year.)

-The concession stand lines moved quicker, and the new paint looked good.

-The new flat screen TVs around the concession stands were a 100x improvement... This may be one of my favorite things they did. So simple.

-The jumbotron videos are getting better every year, especially the True Maroon, MSU football history, and More Cowbell stuff. By the way -- mad props to the student section for booing loudly when the Most Interesting Freshman in the World reminded them they had to be 21 to drink. Funny stuff. Even the blue hairs sitting around me laughed. (Also, I was sad when it was announced that we had lost the crawfish/shell game this year, but the Bully Bell game was even better. 17 Zatarans.)

-The pre-game and in-game music is improving. I don't like all of it all the time, but at least it doesn't drive me insane like it used to. I mean, I love REO Speedwagon as much as the next guy, but it doesn't really get anybody fired up about football. The new Eminem song does. I bet the players like it better, too, if that matters to anyone (LT).

As my buddies and I have said for years -- it's not that difficult to have one of the best gameday atmospheres in the country. MSU fans are willing, and we have everything we need. We just needed some organization, and an administration to care as much as we do. Thank God and Doc, we have that now.

That made the 30 minutes I stood in line a little more bearable. I had a different experience. My concessions stand (sec 707) workers were borderline incompetent. The line wasn't too long - I'd say 15 people in front of me. I have no idea what the norm is, but 2 minutes to serve one customer can't be anywhere close to decent service. They were friendly enough - they just were really bad at keeping the line moving. A lot of that probably has to do with idiots that don't bother thinking about what they want to order ahead of time and don't have their cash ready. Still - 2 minutes a person is ridiculous even if you are serving nothing but 8 year olds buying candy with nickels.

I'll give them a free pass since it was Game 1 under new management and have TVs now. Other than that, the stadium and campus atmosphere was great. We have stepped it up a notch.

Of course after all these years I know when to go and when not to, which helps too. I never stand in line with the masses before the game or at halftime.

I would tell you my timing strategy, but that would defeat the purpose...

It sits next to the ramp entrances and elevators on the south east side. There are always a log jam of people in that spot the entire game. There just isn't enough space there to move large amounts of people around and have room for the concessions line - which is unfortunate considering that should be high on the priority list of stadium design.
