Optimistic about the new tariff deal with Japan? Auto stocks surged.
Doesn’t really move the needle for agriculture. Everybody is flipping out about the rice agreement in the deal. Its tariff free rice until it reaches their WTO agreed upon import agreement which is not much and then it goes to a 700 percent tariff on rice.

Japan is VERY protective of their domestic rice production. Always has been.

We had some Japanese rice farmers visit several years ago. It’s pretty wild how much the government controls what they do with their farms and all of their seed, chemicals, and fertilizer comes from the same source that the government designates. On top of that the government basically controls the price because they don’t allow very many outside imports.
