Are we losing out on the best players because of being outspent by the bigger money teams? Or is Mark Pope looking for players that fit his system? You gotta have some slashers who can score to break down defenses, and Oweh isn’t enough.
Good lord some of you are nuts, do you realize some of the best talent has not even hit the portal yet.

I'll tell yah, knowing thousands of Yankee fans, it's a one-way comparison lol. Again, leave the state once in a while. No one in NY is comparing the Yankees to Kentucky basketball, at least not anytime recently.
If memory serves, I think Flagship of college basketball was also a name we had/have.

I’ll be the first to admit I’ve cried over a few Kentucky losses (especially as a kid…I mean if you didn’t cry or explode with anger after the Laettner shot are you really BBN?). But I will NEVER and HAVE never cried over a pro team loss unlesss something horrific happens.

I mean that’s just weird to me.

As a Met fan I hate the Yankees.

So I'm not for that comparison here.

The Yankees haven't won anything in a long long time. I wouldn't want UK to be them anyways at this point.

Let UCLA be them. Another team that hasn't won anything in a long long time lol.

Kentucky is the only college basketball program that could be the “Yankees of CBB”.
Duke is the Dodgers, but only going back to the LA days.
UConn is the Astros
Indiana is the Reds
UNC is the Cardinals
Kansas is the Red Sox

The money rumors being an issue with Uk so far do look accurate. Hope not tho
I don’t who is saying these rumors because at the end of the year was the rumor was we’re had plenty of cash and even some left over from this year. We supposedly had around 8-10 million ready for the portal. That’s pretty well funded.

We are a middle market team with middle market money. The honest answer is yes, or no. Because we do have more legitimate history then the Reds, but it won’t be surprising if we are a consistent top 20 team that has to win with strategy, coaching, and teamwork if we want to make Final Fours.

That isn’t what anyone wants to hear, but this is Kentucky. We are small, poor, and our president is actively trying to destroy the state’s primary export. So ya know.

I’m confident we will consistently be one of the better teams in the country. We will be better than most, but if the college landscape shifts to one where money is the key factor in success we will never be able to compete every year by outspending 99% of our competition. It just isn’t happening.
He’s not actively trying to destroy anything. What he’s trying to do is put America on level ground with other nations that have been R@ping us with export taxes for ever while we give them hardly tax any country for any goods imported here. The hope is that since our economy is so beneficial to the world that they end up moving toward an actual free trade type alliance or lower taxes for all our goods being exported and imported. It will suck in the short run but be highly beneficial in the long run. If you don’t believe me check out the taxes on goods other countries have levied on us. From Canada, Mexico, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Taiwan, and even the European Union. We can’t even export American made cars to a lot of nations because they won’t even allow it. Regardless of how you feel I probably shouldn’t have responded because this thread is not the place for it. Go Cats.

Welcome to BBN big guy. We have been great for 100+ years.

The "Yankees of college basketball" is a common nickname for the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team, known for their consistent success and dominance in the sport. [1, 2]
Here's why: [1, 2]
Frequent Success:
The Kentucky Wildcats have a long and storied history of winning, with numerous national championships and a consistent presence in the NCAA Tournament.
Relevance:
Just like the New York Yankees in baseball, the Wildcats are a team that consistently remains relevant and a force to be reckoned with in college basketball, often drawing national attention and hype.
Similar to Yankees
The Yankees are a baseball team that is known for winning and being a consistent force in the sport.

Generative AI is experimental.

OH FFS...We are the Oakland A's in Moneyball. We can't compete with the bigger market teams. Our NIL budget is...what? $10-12 million? The AVERAGE in the SEC is $14M. We can't even compete in our own conference.

The Yankees were the silent VILLAIN in Moneyball and you think we are them? LOL

Cincinnati Reds, a franchise who can no-hit a team and still find a way to lose the game.

We definitely seem well funded at the moment don’t we? Missing on targets left and right in the NIL age sure indicates that huh?

You lost all credibility after those 5 words.
Some people have preference money and something, playing style, being close to home etc. The biggest offer sometimes doesn’t always win. Don’t know if true or not I’ve heard of kids getting being offered more money but take less to go to a school with a better offense for their game or coach or etc.

Feel you man. As a Reds fan, there is no hope. Hope is just a player we develop into an everyday starter and lose to free agency or trade off as they prepare to ascend into greatness.

I’m also a longtime Reds fan.

Reds: Best MLB farm team in history.

The strike of 1994 killed my passion for MLB. I went from a diehard fan to a casual who checks scores on his phone occasionally. The Reds have been hot garbage since 1996 save for about 3 decent seasons in the 2010s.

Damn guys, don't be badmouthing my Reds. My teams since 1958, listening on transistor radio. "This is the old left-hander rounding third and heading for home." RIP. Joe Nuxhall
