If we win? Seems like no one thinks we have a chance to stay in unless Bama loses. I can't see us falling out but everyone else seems to disagree.

No one knows how much emphasis the committee will place on conference championships. My head hurts from all the arguments I have listened to over the past couple of days. Some people think that conference championships won't even matter unless its a close call....other people think the conference championship will be a primary consideration. I have no idea. OSU worries me because, if they win the BIG, they not only would be conference champs but they would also have an extra win. One thing is for sure: we are the only team that has a chance to get in without winning its conference.

I don't think conference championships should matter at all, because comparing conferences isn't apples to apples. There will be some clarity rise out of this weekend. Feel like we need one of FSU, TCU, and Baylor to lose. Don't think Ohio State can jump us.

If conference championships held that great of a determining factor the committee would have waited till after the championships were played to determine top 4 teams. SoS will be the main determining factor and control of games played and quality of losses will determine who the top 4 are. We are sitting pretty. I would love to see us go to #3 though.

The media can talk all they want, but one thing is clear: There are a ton of games left to be played over the next 2 weeks, and anything is possible. Heck there is even the good possibility that we win our game, and Oregon/FSU/Bama all lose theirs. That would put us back in the #1 spot and SEC West Champs. Stranger seasons have happened (see 2007). The only thing we need to worry about is beating the Rebels. The polls will sort themselves out.

I have a brother who is the worst possible person to be around in the event of a tragic or stressful situation. All he wants to do is talk about all the intangibles that the family can't control. He can't handle stress one bit and his coping mechanism is to blurt out all his **** for the family to have to deal with and help him process it all.

I feel like my brother is posting all over this board this week.

I think some of the posters need to follow the famous words of Aaron Rodgers to all the panicking Green Bay fans. R-E-L-A-X....

That logic doesn't work. I don't think the committee made the decision to release polls during the season....someone came up with that as a marketing idea. The emphasis to place on conference championships will be left up to the individual members of the committee, and it has not been used as a factor in the early polls. We just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

tcu should not gain more off beating a 6-5 than us beating an 8-3.

baylor gets nothing by beating a 4-7.

ohio state is the one outlier...nothing gained beating a junk michigan team, but thwy might gain if they win championship game.

ut all depends how they place 4 thru 7 obviously then.

if we win out, thats all we really can do. it all falls then.
