Are we less confident?
Im a little more confident.
If we continue to improve weekly and if Alabama and Clempson are still down there is a path, but that's a lot of "ifs".
Thoughts?

The first week of the season is almost as misleading as spring games, especially in the era of the transfer portal. We don't yet really know what we have, we don't yet really know what Va Tech has, and we really don't know what anybody else has. Remember when Ga. Tech beat preseason #10 FSU to kickoff the season in Ireland last year and they popped into the top 25? Nobody had any idea at that time how abysmally bad FSU was.

Having said that, I fully expected this game to be a nail-biter, just as the Old Dominion game was last year. The fact that we had a pretty poor offensive showing and still won by two TDs gives me some hope.

I tend to agree with this. After the first game last year a lot of us thought it was going to be a tough year but it turned out ok.
As a long suffering Gamecock fan its hard to get my "hope" up but I feel it creeping up. Hopefully it will be a great season!

Every game VT played last year in reg season was close. Them and taters were 14-7 going in 4th qtr. I suspect they decent. We got to improve on OLine and at receiver or it’s gonna be tough sledding.

I believe the O line will get better. Will it improve enough to make the playoffs? That is the million dollar question.

Less because after an entire offseason to get better and more sound, and an entire preseason to prepare for VaTech, that’s the best we could do?

I didn't think we would make the playoffs preseason. I haven't changed my mind.
