WARNING, worst thread of all time....AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

losing our top 10 baseball attendance to om would be worth it if we won the series, however, losing the O.M.A.H.A. streak, the attendance records, and the series would be a hard pill to swallow. I have no idea how they could fit 500 more, much less 3,000, but they might could pull it off if they got creative.

They will not beat our overall attendance record... especially at an NCAA sanctioned event.

It would be a thousand times better to beat them twice in oxford

Than it would to beat gt or Washington in Starkville....not easier, but so much better

No possible way. None...

OM's has only had ONE crowd over 11,000 ever, and their top 3 crowds were all spring game Saturdays. Their highest super regional crowd is 10,323 vs Virginia.

Remember, the students are out and many won't make the trip back. No possible way could they approach 15k. They won't get over 13k, even with State fans going.

If State were to win the first game, then they might not break 11k on Saturday because some OM fans will stay home. If OM wins Friday, then some State fans won't attend that otherwise would have. The crowd may break their record 11,729, but not over 13k.

Having said all that, I am not counting on going to any Super Regional until we actually win in Lafayette. If we win. We might not. Lot of baseball left to be played.

Not possible. Can't fit that many people in there. If we make it and end up there, gonna have to do a good job getting tickets early and getting in line early for the outfield.

i just think its unwise to wish for this match-up for a multitude of reasons....not that wishing translates into results, but still, give me one reason we would want this match-up over the alternative assuming we are lucky enough to make it out of our regional.

throw in some temporary bleachers in the left field, some temporary bleachers where they golden-shower each other, and sell standing room only tickets and they could get pretty damn close especially if everyone is so gung ho about showing up....they could get close....dont forget they have some parking lots and areas behind the left field they could utilize...nix that playground thing they have down the left field line...ultimately i think it would be about demand and some seem to see this as an ideal scenario...i dont get it.

If we're "wishing", I'd wish for the #4 seed in the OM regional to come to Starkville for the SR. Or the #3 or #2. Playing at OM would be the least desirable. Even having to travel to Seattle would be better for State than traveling to Oxford.

Their record crowd is 11.7K. They aren't fitting 4000 more people in there, especially with the NCAA taking tickets.

If it has anything to do with one-upping State then you better believe that if it's close, they'll flat out lie to, at the very least, make some noise. Some of you won't agree with this, but the ONLY reason they give a damn about baseball AT ALL is because they "took it away" from MSU when Bianco got things rolling there and Polk was just rolling around in his own ****.

I'm hoping the Black Bears are a mile high going into the first round of the regionals and this happens

You are putting WAAAYYY too much thought into this... They will not break our record. Hell, we didn't even break our own record in 2007. Plus, as I've already said... this is an NCAA sanctioned event (should it happen)... THEY have control over ticket sales.

You sound like the idiots telling us not to bash recruits when there were no recruit bashing threads. Where are the threads saying I hope we get to play Ole Miss?

they have been in the top 5 in attendance for some time now and most of the time, they are higher ranked (on avg). if it is a physical impossibility, that is one thing, but they would kill themselves trying to make it happen if they thought it was possible.

if its that stupid of a thread, just lock it those that have the power. i think it is plausible, but i may be an idiot...there are those that have made that argument before.

I just think you are worrying way to much over something that is not going to happen. The NCAA limited our tickets in 2007, they will limit OM's to around their max capacity. They may get an extra 500-1000 in there... they aren't going to put that much effort into trying to put 4000 more people in there just to try to piss on us.

Thanks. The front page has one mention of Ole Miss, and its the suggestion to paint Bo Wallace's outline in the endzone. You'd think we were talking about it non-stop from this guy.

I frequent over there a few times a week and I saw a few threads about it towards selection time last week... but no, it has not been non-stop. I hope Washington, Ga. Tech, or JSU wins, honestly.... and I'll be pissed if they get to Omaha through us... but I don't lose sleep over it.

i just think its dumb to want to play them....people question that or say "we ain't skurd" and that still doesnt make me think its any less stupid. the only reason i keep talking about it is because people keep bringing up different aspects of its implausibility, when, in reality, they are one of the few teams in the nation that might could pull it off if a proverbial gun was to their head. like i said, if its physically impossible, that is one thing, if nobody cares, that is another, but people getting pissy because a question was asked, doesnt really get to the bottom of the inquiry, rather, it just strings along the thread unnecessarily. and really, i just wanted to gauge people's attitudes if that were to happen.

its not my best work, but its something that people may not have initially considered.

I know you will call BS, but the second game of the Texas SR would have been very close to you record. That was before the school started counting actual student attendance, and there was 6K minimal in that area. There were people who climbed trees because there was nowhere to stand. It was 2 and 3 deep lining outside the stadium fences in the outfield and down the lines with people watching because SRO was sold out. There were 3 or 4 thousand on the hill in LF, the crowd was almost miserable it was so packed.

Anyone who was there that day will say it was close to 15K people. The official record is for the UVA game in 2009. I was at both of those SR, and the UVA game wasn't near as full as the Texas second game.

Bring them on

I would rather them lose their first two of regional and be done. But if it comes down to us and them in a SR, it will be one of the most exciting SR in both teams history. It will be the most exciting for the winner.

2nd if y'all don't think The OM fans will be very excited to play us in a home SR, you don't know this rivalry. They will show up in records numbers. We will have fans trying to get there. It will be a massive crowd and OM will do what they have to do to get a record crowd in there.

I was there. There was no 15k people in attendance. And it was required to buy tickets to the outfield in that Texas regional -- so they had an exact number.

I've been adamant that it's one of the best one seeds to be paired with. Not that playing OM in Supers is our best case scenario...

Isn't that exactly what I said?

Basically, yes...

I was just clarifying my position before anyone had a chance to take something different out of it. It was largely a response to a faction of our fanbase that has already conceded defeat and fear of Oxford, when from an outsider perspective and ignoring the rivalry, you basically couldn't ask for a better path toward Omaha as a 2-seed...
