Are we the best team in the SECW?

before we go crowning ourselves division champs. Not that your post said that, but I'm just saying. If we get to 5 or 6-0 then we can start this talk. If we want 20 wins, and it will take at least that to get into the tournament with how the conference is faring, we have to go 10-6 and we probably won't beat UF, UT, or UK. That basically leaves no more than 3 slip-ups, including road games. It's a tough road to the NCAAs, and we will have a period where we will be ice cold shooting the ball.

Right now, who would you say is the best team in the West?

I'd say us, almost by default.

Also, I don't think I agree that we probably won't beat Florida. They haven't proven anything on the road this year. It's the last game of the season, and we should have plenty to play for. Our significant home court advantage should be in full force for that game.

...with OM pretty much out of contention due to injuries, I say as of now either UPig or MSU will win the West.

UPig has too much talent to crash & burn (at least in terms of competing for the SECW).

Of course, I reserve the right to backtrack when & if I am proven wrong.

As has been stated on here a few times, we're a 3-pt shooting team, meaning that we'll be extremely inconsistent throughout the season. We'll win some games that we shouldn't due to hot nights, and we'll also lose some games that we have no business losing. Furthermore, any game that Swat gets in early foul trouble can easily be chalked up as possible loss.

There may not be a team in the division that's a lot better, but I can easily see this going down as 3 or possibly even 4-team race in the last couple games of the season.

My natural inclination was to say no, too, but if I were forced to pick, I'd have to pick us.

you can't say we are the best in the west after one game. it was an impressive win, but, as seinfeld says, we are a three point shooting team and we will have many nights where we are cold. plus if we play a team with a big man that has any defense skills, swat will be shut down on the offensive side. we are better than i expected, though. it should be an interesting season for the west.

I guess my point was that there really isn't a clear favorite. I agree that we probably have as good of a shot as any right now, but you could probably throw LSU, Bama, Arkansas, and MSU in a hat. If it weren't for Warren's injury, you could throw Ole Miss in there too. Hell, I'm still not even positive you can leave them out.

Anyway, I don't think there's any team that's a lot better than State, but I also don't think that you can clearly label State as the best. We've had a nice two weeks, but before the last three wins, I didn't know if we'd even make the NIT. If we take care of Alabama and Vandy at the Hump this week, I'll start feeling a little more wooly.

hell no we aren't the best team in the West. We lost to San diego and charlotte at HOME. But, looking at it closer, the rest of the West sucks too, as usual. But i still think Arkansas( i know we just beat them by double figures in Bud walton) is the best team in the West, with us a close 2nd.
