When has he ever proven that? What program has he ever built or turned around?
Will never root for Duke in basketball...or Notre Dame in football...so OSU in this particular matchup.
He inherited one of the top programs in the country, underperformed based on the talent level and because he underperformed, they sunk a gazillion dollars into buying him the best team in the country and he still went 10-2. How great of a coach would he be if he were at Northwestern?
I didn’t see him on tv doing the telecast, he looks like he’s coaching, you know, for the championship
If you mean because he has assembled one of the best staffs since OSU open its wallet and soared no expense, yes.
Otherwise he is a very good HC, not great.

As he should be…when you have the best talent, you should be in the championship game. But you shouldn’t go 10-2 in the regular season.
If you judged Day the same as you judge Franklin, you wouldn’t think Day was a great coach, you’d want him fired.
If you remember, I’m not asking for Jim’s head unless he adds Iowa to the 2 guaranteed losses next season. Jim is a fine coach under this new playoff system and I am enjoying it. #smu #boise
Are you saying (out loud) day couldn’t do what Jim is doing at State? So apples to apples Jim>Coach Day?
We wouldn’t know because Day has never shown that he could. Franklin has proven twice that he can build or rebuild a program.
I don’t know about that but I’ve said tons of times this season watching STATE receivers “I woulda caught that with a beer in my strong hand”. And if I may, it’d be 9-3, no way I throw the ball Michigan game down in there
ND fans talking trash about Sandusky is ironic given they root for a team founded and ran by Catholic priests.
Tempering my my feelings a bit here. I hate ND (Athletics) with all of my being! It starts with the Lou Holtz "clause". Also, how can one school have an exclusive agreement with a major network for decades?
I was rooting for ND as painful as it was, Freeman far easier to root for then Day.
I get the sense that some people were just rooting for the college football season to be over, as the playoffs seemed too long.
I always tell ND fans. In my day, many of us were ND fans. Then, we grew up. Catholic Elementary school and Sunday Highlights with Lindsay Nelson. AD putting 6 TD’s on em changed my view of them.
