I think that’s about right. My gut says ASU by 10 to 13 but I could see us losing a close game too.
They apparently struggled with an FCS school. We didn't struggle with USM we struggle with ourselves with all the penalties. If they clean up I see a close game.
You’re seeing what you wanna see if you thought we didn’t struggle in that game. I was not impressed with the offense. The defense did look much better.
I don’t know man. I did think we looked like an actual team. But I can see your POV. I do think they proved me wrong that they’d be pathetic but I was overly negative, admitted. Hard to do any worse. We may be alright.
I guess I just respect road games. Many people think it adds 3-7 points. I usually say 10-14. But I’m not on the bandwagon.
Maybe I’m sheepish too watching Bama lose, as if that has anything to do with us.
That OL was dog $h!+. RBs looked good. The D looked more athletic. Not sure what to make of the DL yet. This is a 4 win team.
They were manhandling early. I’m hoping some of that is being so new without spring practice. Am I a sheep? It seems like I’m the only one who thought that. It may have just been the tailbacks.
I’m just not convinced we are improved enough to win a game like this. USM isn’t 1-11 bad like they were last year but that’s still probably a middle of the pack Sun Belt team at best.
Maybe we are a lot better and this is a truly competitive game…. Or maybe we get slapped back to reality. I’m not 100% sure, but my gut tells me we’re still not ready.

They didn't struggle with NAU. They were up by 25 before a late score. But considering they were 30 point favorites, it wasn't anything to get excited about if your an ASU fan.
You are seeing what you want to see. It's all a matter of opinion. We had 14 penalties for 114 yards a turnover on the 20-yard line, kept them out of the endzone, and played our scrubs the last five minutes of the game and still had a double-digit win. No, we didn't struggle with USM. Our mistake kept them in the game going into the second half. We struggle with ourselves. So, Keep on seeing how you want, and I will see it how I want.
The first half struggle was intentional. After that first TD we dialed it WAY back. Them opened it up in the 2nd half.
Television games. This game could have been 51-3.

We lost by 7 at ASU last year with a worse roster.
Hard for some of y’all to realize but we are better. We played flat yesterday as most of the players came out flat. We totally dominated USM when we started to play. All eyes have been focused on ASU
We were struggling at 10-10 5 minutes before halftime. But dominated the next20 minutes and coasted in the 4th quarter. But those first 25 minutes were bad. Real bad.
Or did we just coast then oh I don’t know just put there face in the ground and beat them…. Stop acting like we sucked the entire game.
We were also down 27-3 at halftime. Our suckage lulled them into letting us back in the game, but it was only a game very late.
If we don't start this year's game like we've never seen a football field it should be competitive. We shall see.
They scored 3 points in the entire second half we had the ball with 3 minutes left. the difference in the game was shapens fumble. You can write revisionist history but the fact remains… we trailed 28-3 at AU one time as well. And won. We coukd have won this game as well…It was a game with time remaining until it was over
We can be better and still lose this game by double digits. Us losing by 7 last year is very deceiving. Not even getting into us being down 30-3, but Skattebo had a breakaway TD at the end to put them back up by two scores and slid down to take a knee and run out the clock instead. We never had the ball with a chance to tie or take the lead.
I'm pretty sure that saying what happened is not revising history. We were absolutely awful the entire first half of that game. We did some good things in the 2nd half and gave ourselves a chance, but we still, for the most part, looked like a sheet tay football team.
And guess what, we were in fact a sheet tay football team in 2024.
I saw things I liked Saturday. I think we're improved. But I will not be nearly as confident as you until they show me on the field against a team with a pulse.
I hope they do that this Saturday.
Go back and watch the game and get back with me. We had the ball down by seven and driving before failing to covert a 4th down.
Why do people go out of their way to be negative in this fan base.
I actually got in mild disagreements in the game thread this weekend with the same ole same ole overly negative posters.
But some doubt about this football team is perfectly reasonable. They have been pretty damn bad for awhile now.
You watched a different game than the rest of us. We cut it to 7 with 5:27 to go and then never touched the ball again.
Negativity and skepticism are two different things. I am actually a generally optimistic fan and hopeful we win and think there’s a scenario where that could happen. But I also know what I’ve seen from us the last two years and am not going to pretend the situation has been rosier than it was.
My point was they did nothing to us. We shot ourselves in the foot over and over. We come out next week and play like we did the first half yesterday they will be up 21 by half time. Our guys have a lot of clean up to do.
Completely agree. Although getting stuffed by their DL on 3rd & 1 was very concerning. But we should have been comfortably ahead 21-10 at halftime. Like you say, a lot to clean up.
Ultimately we are going to be at home and some teams struggle on the road, so maybe we are improved enough and will have a decent enough environment where playing at DWS helps us.
ASU did lose to a 5-7 Cincinnati team on the road last year, so I dunno, maybe that’s the realistic angle to us maybe being able to win. We play well and they have a stinker on the road as many teams are capable of having.

If we’re competitive, we’ll get a lot of eye balls. Only significant game at that time is Michigan at Oklahoma.
The concern for Saturday is IF we can score enough points.
AzSt returns 11 on defense. I didn't like what I saw along the OL v USM. AzSt will have a better DL than USM.
Can State hold AzSt to 19 points or less? I hope so. Because I don't think State will score more than 21.
