This is a huge game. Hard to believe there aren't more posts about it. This is a great stepping stone. Plus a ton of croots coming to the game. A win would be a huge boost to this program. A loss would be tragic

The fan part of me is losing all rational thought and thinking win.

the realistic part of me will take a competitive game where we look competent and I see progress

the fan part is bludgeoning the realistic part to death with each passing day however
Me as well. I've got a fever and the only cure is . . .

Calling a loss tragic here is a pretty big stretch

A loss to a top 15 team is normally not the end of the world; however, this year is a little different. It's hard to imagine losing this one at home and finding more wins than Alcorn and Northern IL. A three win year would not give the impression of a program that is improving.

depends on expectations. If the expectation is bowl eligibility, or even five wins, it would be a pretty tragic loss.

If the expectation is 4-8, it hurts but it's not the end of the world.

You do realize ASU is ranked higher than some SEC teams on our schedule right? Losing to them would hurt but not the end of the world.

Is there anyone expecting a bowl game this year?

This game is a tailor-made, gift-wrapped, moral victory opportunity for lebby. He only needs two moral victories to go with his four wins to secure year three. Just keep it interesting and close enough (under 10 points).

Your consistency is impressive, sir.

They crushed us last year. All those second half points nean nothing. When a game is 27-3 at half that's all you need to know. ASU ain't truly #12. They will not hold there. And I disagree about this games importance. Its huge

The crazy thing about last year is Skattebo had 70% of their total offensive production against us. We had no answer for him.

We had two turn overs that lead to 10 points and loss by 7 and we sucked. They got better as the season went on. However, they would have been an 8-win team last season at best with our schedule. Starting 22 are good but after that they drop off and injuries would have added up. TX, GA, Ole Miss and Tenn in the season would have taken a toll on them.

Arizona State would definitely have struggled with our schedule but let's not forget they took a knee to finish the game. They whooped us. Hopefully we can return the favor plus some

Let's be honest about this "loss by 7" stuff. They jumped out on us 30-3. The game was never in doubt.

Huge game for sure but a loss would not be tragic.
A loss to one of the other two OOC games would be though!

I literally just paid enough attention today to realize that it is a a Top10 upset opportunity. It doesn't feel that way for some reason. Given our schedule, a win won't make me over optimistic about the rest of the season, but it will make me feel like we at least have a chance to compete in some games this season and at least get 50% more wins than last year.

A 50% improvement is alot.

They averaged almost 10 yards per rush & gave up 2 sacks in 41 drop backs.
I said some issues. Mainly in the passing game but Leavitt was able to beat them with his legs & he can fly. ASU LT had some problems. Matt even pointed it out.

They also got away with some obvious holding, one of Leavitt's td runs more specifically. & a couple more the commentators pointed out . They struggled a bit to block cleanly at times. Could just be 1st game issues.

It will be interesting to see how they do against a better defense. And how our improved defense will do against a better offense. Overall I’m more concerned about our offensive line than I am about our defense. But hard to say too much about either team considering the opponents.

I mean, as ****** as we were last year, we should've beaten them on the road. Our DC pissed it away!
Offense had 27 yards on 24 carries. I don’t know how many three and outs and gave up a defensive TD. Our D was bad for sure but the O might have been worse in that game.
