The Hogs believe that they should host over M-State. Here is a very logical, common sense look at why you shouldn't.

Arkansas:
You lost to Western Illinois at home
Went 0-4 at a tournament in Surprise, AZ with losses to Gonzaga and Pacific.
Lost series to OM at home
Split a series with New Mexico at home
Got swept in a 2 game series with Nebraska at Nebraska.

Most of Ark's home series were against low rpi teams. And they didn't win all of them either. They won our series at home and beat USC at USC. Those are the only two good things they did all year. They went on the road to Auburn and lost that series, they went on the road to UGA and won, and they didn't even have to play Vandy at all.

It is ridiculous that you Hogs fans think that you should host over another SEC W team who:
Won 43 games
Top 10 RPI
Most wins against RPI Top 50 in the country
#5 SOS
Top 15 ranking
Top 10 attendance records for NCAA Baseball (16 of the top 25).

How you guys think that you should even be mentioned in the same sentence as us in hosting is ridiculous.

Arkansas should absolutely not get a host spot over Mississippi State, but the notion that they will host is not that far-fetched.

I don't know of anyone who still thinks we should host over MSU, some think we should host over SC though. Our errors at the beginning of the season killed us, we played a lot better in the middle of conference play and id like to think we're a much better team now...but that doesnt matter with hosting. When you look at our record vs. the top teams in the SEC

didnt play vandy
2-3 against LSU
2-1 against MSU
2-2 against Ole Miss
3-0 against SC

9-6 isnt bad. Attendance would be a wash. Regardless, we're probably going to be a very dangerous 2 seed for someone.

I agree

I never said Ark wouldn't be a very dangerous team. It's just all the Hog fans hijacking twitter convos trashing the fact that State is hosting and they likely won't is annoying. I needed to vent and put it in perspective. Ark has had some very, very bad losses. And I also agree, Ark did do well against "some" of the top teams in the SEC. The difference is that State only lost 2 non conference games all year while Ark lost to people like NM, Nebraska, and Pacific. That's what makes me so annoyed. The fact that there are Hogs fans that still think that they should host when A.) They had a much easier SEC Schedule than State and B.) had a horrible RPI compared to State.

If Ark fans want to get mad that USC might host over them that's fine because I agree. You beat them at USC and that says a lot. But to trash State and talk about how it's "laughable" if we host and Ark doesn't like the hogs fans on twitter are doing, that's what makes me mad. Ark is on a hot streak right now and I like it. There is no way they will not be in a regional, and they most definitely could go to Omaha. But to compare the hosting situation as saying "Ark should host over State" instead of "Ark should host over USC" is wrong.

This

is strictly saying why Ark shouldn't host over State. I'm not trying to say that Ark shouldn't host, or that they shouldn't play in a regional. If they host, that's great. But this is about Hogs thinking they should host INSTEAD of State

615dawg agrees with this. But I think MSU, USCe and Ark could all host.

Too many teams crapped the bed this weekend.

National Seeds
1. Vanderbilt
2. North Carolina
3. LSU
4. Virginia
5. Oregon State
6. Cal State Fullerton
7. Oregon
8. Florida State/North Carolina State

Outside Looking In for National Seed
Indiana

Other Locks to Host
Mississippi State
Louisville
UCLA
Kansas State

Two Spots Left

The Contenders:

South Carolina (39-18, RPI: 13)
Clemson (39-20, RPI: 14)
Virginia Tech (38-19, RPI: 11)
Arkansas (37-20, RPI: 31)

South Carolina beat Clemson 2/3, but Arkansas beat South Carolina 3/3 on the road and finished 3rd in the SEC and went 2-1 in the SEC Tourney while USC went 0-2

Clemson finished 5th in the ACC, Virginia Tech finished 3 games back in 6th but they are in the ACC Title game against UNC/NC State winner while Clemson went 0-3.

If you look at RPI, its Virginia Tech and South Carolina
If you look at conference finish, its Clemson and Arkansas
If you look at late season, its Virginia Tech and Arkansas
If you look at geography, its definitely Arkansas and Clemson/USC/VT are in crowded areas
The ACC has four hosts not counting VT/Clemson and the SEC has three not counting ARK/USCe

This one is going to committee, literally. You can justify any of the two over the other two. The only combination that it will not be is Virginia Tech and Clemson. They won't give the ACC six hosts to the SEC's 3.

So it will be:
South Carolina and Virginia Tech (30% chance)
Arkansas and Virginia Tech (30% chance)
Arkansas and Clemson (30% chance)
Arkansas and South Carolina (7% chance)
South Carolina and Clemson (3% chance)

I'm just glad we did enough to lock it up.

For what it's worth, a lot of arkansas fans (specifically hogville) thought we had dorial green-beckham wrapped up and were a lock for the NIT last year so we don't have a great track record of predicting things haha

Agree. You've had a lot of bad losses, but you've also had a lot of good wins. And if it comes down to Ark-USC for that last host site, a better SEC record against a tougher SEC schedule, a better showing in the SECT, and a sweep at USC could be the difference.

Record v. common opponents total for the year:

Miss. State: 16-8
Arkansas: 14-10

Arkansas can talk conference record, but the fact is their schedule was significantly easier because of missing Vandy and getting UGA and Tennessee.

Also, I don't put much stock into their series win over us. It was played two months ago and it was at their place. Plus, all the games were close and the series had a combined score of 9-9, so you can't really say they proved themselves.

I'm fine with Arky hosting, but it won't and shouldn't be at State's expense. Literally every aspect of State's resume is better except Conference record and head to head, and as mentioned, those should be taken with a grain of salt. Any Arkansas fan who says otherwise is just an obnoxious idiot.

People also forget that we had to start Bracewell for the Sunday game at Arkansas and it was disastrous. Of course, Lindgren may have struggled as well, but who knows? I'd rather would have started Lindgren and taken my chances.
