As I've said before, I feel like it's all about match ups, and I like the way we match up with LSU. I also don't like the way you match up with Arkansas.

That said, I don't like the way we match up with you for the Egg Bowl. I could see Arkansas rolling you, us beating LSU by 10, and then MSU beating us in the Egg Bowl.

Honestly I like Arkansas to cover the 12. I think their offense is a bad match up for your defense, and I think what they do defensively matches up well with your offense. I could be completely wrong, but to me I just think Arkansas is a nightmare draw for you based on the match ups of what you do well versus what they do well.

and Ole Miss should do the same to LSU, considering how all the teams are playing. Ole Miss better do it this year, they have an opportunity to beat 2 more beatdowns on reeling teams. Smoking one of the SEC Big 6 is always a cool thing, much less 2 of them in back to back weeks. With what you are losing and that all the other teams are coming up, you have to do it now. Enjoy the moment. I'm just glad Nutt forgot about Mccluster for 8 weeks, too bad he can't go back in time. 9-3 isn't too shabby though.

Honestly, if we do this with McCluster all year, we're 8-2 right now instead of 7-3. The only game we'd win would have been SC. Alabama still beats us no matter what we do. They just manhandled us, and Auburn beat us even though we were giving McCluster a full load.

I agree that we're in for a down year in 2010 based on what we lose off this team and how young we'll be next year, but I wouldn't discount us for the future. We brought in a load of talent in our last class, and we seem to be putting together another solid group this year. We could be pretty tough to handle by 2011 and especially by 2012.

Arkansas will beat us by 40

Somebody please, reply to this and post some reasons why it will not happen. I have tickets to the game and I am concerned it will be a miserable experience. I am trying to talk myself up......maybe Mallet is out for some reason? maybe our secondary figures out their assignments? maybe God fills Lee with his power and Lee takes his sling shot and hurls a stone into the forehead of the hogs.

Torbush is still our Defensive Coordinator. That man has been a wrecking ball to once good defenses. I hope he's looking for a new job come seasons end

1. Its an early start, which is the prime time for an upset for a road team;
2. MSU is still fighting for bowl eligibility and Ark is not; and
3. MSU played a similar opponent in Houston (good passing offense and crappy defense) pretty tough for a while.

we are going to be able to run on them and they won't have time to score 40. :)

Sorry for the violation.

I had my own personal superstitious reasons I thought we'd knock off Bama. But alas reality in football is all you can really count on. Arkansas will pummel us. Look at our track record up there. Look at the offense they run - tailor made to shred Torbush's joke of a scheme.

and I'm sure I'm in the minority esp. on a State board but the Bama Ole Miss game was closer than it seemed.
I disagree that you brought in alot of talent in this past class though. Just my opinion. Half of them aren't there. The Grandy fellow will be pretty good. A Few good players, then space fillers. Nothing compared to the 2006 class that Oregeron brought in.

Yeah, they held UF, Bama, and USC combined to less than 300 yards rushing. Auburn ran for a lot of yards on them but I think most of that was after it was decided. However, all those teams, except AU, had a decent passing days on them. So, maybe by some luck, Dixon has a decent day on them. However, it is looking like we are going to have to be able to throw the ball to have a chance. Which may lead to a shoot out. Which favors them heavily.

MSU providing Arkansas with their usual gimmie win.

Mississippi punching their ticket to the Capital One Bowl or the Outback Bowl by beating State.

Last year's Ole miss class was a great one by any standards, a top 20 class even in the enrolled rankings with many players already pushing upperclassman for playing time. As to next year, Ole Miss will feel some of the losses for certain but will still return 13 starters off of a pretty good team... Still a bowl team with the ability to grab 7-8 wins.

Drummond, Barksdale were 2 4 star guys that aren't around anymore. Thug boy Hornsby is gone. A number of the 3 star guys are gone. I heard somewhere that Tim Simon ended his career, not sure how accurate that is. Who all has played for them this year? I forgot about the Shackelford guy, he's pretty good too. But still that's not loads of talent like Rebelbruiser said. Ole Miss has really struggled when McCluster was not the go-to guy (which should be all the friggin' time) but nevertheless. What happens when those monster DEnds are gone. I don't know just seems to be a run of the mill class to me, nothing special.

and lost the two guys from Tallahassee (three stars). Tim Simon had a pretty bad ACL in the USC game (he was looking good at rb); he may get a medical redshirt if he can recover.

And there are a ton of people playing already- massie starting, Patterson catching td's, mccray making sacks like the big one sat, Rodney Scott, Grandy, etc..You mentioned guys like Shackleford and Gaines...And fortunate enough to be able to redshirt at least 13 other 3 and 4 star players. A much better class on paper than any OM class this decade save 06, and even superior to that one at this respective point...

And that was my point. We were able to redshirt a good number of quality players this year due to having some quality seniors on the team. The difference for us in 2006 with that class is that we had to force a lot more guys into immediate roles due to lack of quality experience.

Frank Crawford is another one that hasn't been mentioned. The coaches really like him, and they say he'd likely be pushing the 2 deep this year if they weren't trying to get him a redshirt. And yes, we did lose Barksdale and Drummond after the enrolled rankings were released. Hornsby was never part of the enrolled rankings, not that I buy the rankings anyway. As an aside, Barksdale isn't necessarily gone for good. There is a chance he may enroll in December and fill his spot from this past class.

Kight and Shackelford are both the real deal at LB, along with the other players mentioned. For me, the OL class was one of the biggest plusses with our last class. It looks like as good of a group as we've brought in in a while. We'll see how they pan out in a couple years, but Massie, Michael Brown, Emmanuel McCray, and Aaron Hawkins (grayshirt from 2008) are a pretty solid group.

We'll see on a lot of the other guys, but as far as signing classes go, our most recent one looks pretty good on paper and as far as what the reviews are from the practice field and what they've done as a group on the field this year.
