all I can do is shake my head when I see old video of our uni's and how good we used to look- the interlocking MSU, real maroon jerseys, white game pants....

first off, Alabama and Penn State's uniforms are classics. They are great.

Secondly, hey Malcom Jenkins, how'd that uniform look as it beat your *** Saturday night? Shmuck.

is PSU and Alabama considered ugly? Simple yes, bland? maybe. Ugly? Only if you hate red or white or blue.

Syracuse and Oregon are ugly. Alabama and PSU are simple classic uniforms.

If a player will put on ORANGE, he,... they will put on anything.

To me the best looking uniforms that we have had, were during the Felker era.

(yes I realize the irony) am going to have to pay more attention to our uniforms. I mean, they are white, and they are maroon, and they have sneakers with those spikey things on them. And they have wraps, and helments, and pads and stuff.

I gotta tell you, that other than really bizzare color combinations, I just don't get the ugly or cool uniform thing.

to either Penn State or Alabama? I think the Ohio State helmets would look better without the buckeyes slapped all over them, but I'm obviously insane. Apparently in college football, pieces of flair are only acceptable on a helmet. (I might end up there in a few years, so nobody archive this one)

No coach should be able to make the drastic uniform change we incurred, & for that matter, no idiot athletic director should have allowed such a drastic change. UA & Penn State are classics, & recognizable to their teams. Our uni's are flat out trash.

I think we had a identifiable look though the '80's. '90's, & going into 2000, & not necissarily identifiable in the same way that UA & Penn State are, but we had a look, & our change was horrible.

I think these young men / kids / whatever, do give a **** what they will be wearing, & our uniforms are not deal sealer, or anything they can be proud of. I hope we can go to something very close to what we had one day soon.

I don't have a problem w/ the M-State logo, but it just doesn't work on a uniform for me.....make M-State the schools logo, & if baseball has tradition & identity w/ the "MS" config, then football can have an identity w/ the MSU, & everyone else can choose the MSU or M-State (like volleyball, soccer, & all that stuff)

Amazingly, this past weekend I was in a shuttle bus w/ the Russel rep that is handling our account. She stated that Byrne is putting the pressure on them and other companies(Byrne is currently speaking with other companies such as Addidas) to come up with a new logo and uniform.

and not also think Alabama's and Penn State's are ugly? There's almost no difference at all in our uniforms and Alabama's and not much difference in ours and Penn State's. And for the record, all 3 are ugly as ****. The only difference is Alabama and Penn State have won a hell of a lot more games in their ugly uniforms than we have in ours and they've worn them for a lot longer than we have.

I've talked to a guy who is very involved on campus and claims to know something about this. He says we aren't going back to the interlocking MSU, but rather a new take on the M-State b/c Nike owns the right to the interlocking one. I just don't understand why we can't slightly change the old one so we can get out from under Nike. He'll, why don't we just go back to Nike?

Yes, our uniform is not much different when we wear the white pants. However, we don't. The maroon pants and white tube sock is what makes our uniforms so terrible. Our all white look isn't bad. I just don't like dark pants though. I think Nebraska looks stupid in their red pants. Anyway.....

I am a guy who likes the classic look. Like someone said, our best uniforms were from the uniforms from the 80s (minus 86-88) and Jackie's until 96. I always thought the Nike uniforms had to much....with the shadowing and sleeve stripes.</p>

I've been alive for 32.11 years and in that time, that's the only uniform I know for those teams. And that's the way it should be.

Even ugly can become a classic if left alone for long enough.

Don't you think? MSU using the only leverage that we have to get someone on the uni issue. Going to Russell for the boatload of free "Maron is all that matters" was weak. That's got some LT written ALL over it.

I have to agree with you guys, the last 4 or 5 years of unis have been horrible! Embarrassing. JUCO/ Arena or softball - like....they look bush league.

We have other areas of leverage....but it doesn't really apply to this thread. I.E. -- sponsorships, concessions, etc. Those are better saved for another day.

Russell makes them, and their stuff generally looks like crap. It looks cheap, and the maroon doesn't look maroon half the time.

Switch to a better manufacturer, go back to a maroon helmet, and add some stripes to the uniform and I'm happy.

We have the rights to any other interlocking M-S-U we want to use except the one specific one we wore during the Sherrill era. We could just come up with one that's kind of a cross between that one and the one we used in the Bellard era and we wouldn't have to pay Nike a dime. The whole "Nike owns the logo" story is a myth and a smokescreen. The real and only reason we don't use an interlocking M-S-U logo is because Larry Templeton didn't want to use it any more. And so far at least, Greg Byrne hasn't done a damn thing to move us back to it.

First, I am so sick and tired of us trotting out in the all maroon uniforms. We look like a mix between Valley and Alcorn. However, I do think it would be cool to possibly do this one game a year that we need to get up for (i.e Georgia putting on the black jerseys) , but lately these have been our uniforms for every home SEC game.

Look at Penn St, Alabama, Auburn, Tenn, Texas, Ohio St, USC.... they are traditonal powers that wear TRADITIONAL uniforms ...

"It's the No. 1 conversation we have," said Walker Jones, the director of college sports marketing for Under Armour, which outfits 11 Division I-A teams, including Auburn, Texas Tech and Utah.

Surely there's not two of them....

however his marketing campaign "Gentlemen, we must give our all in effort to protect this house and then we'll have a cocktail" was not well received.

some people are wondering why men care- well here's why- when you have a good looking uniform that doesn't look like crap, people are going to be more wiling to support that team and feel better about them because they look good.

We have an identity- and that's maroon helmets with the interlocking MSJ. We need to bring that back, and I hope our next coach does.

gray if I'm not mistaken I think this rep also said there is no chance MSU is changing coaches at the end of the year. I guess one or the other the Dawgs go with jersey's.

That's a question I'd like to have answered. And I will not accept "So they would provide us with free uniforms." as a valid answer.
