I hate Louisville with a passion always have. But I still would have taken Bobby Petrino in a heartbeat as our HC.
At the end of the day (other than the affair) I don't really see the outrage that most fans have against him. I think quite a bit of the hate that it is directed at him is mostly because he is the Louisville coach.
If he had spent that 03-06 time frame coaching anywhere other than Louisville I think most UK fans would have a much different opinion of him.
I understand the hate from the standpoint. I live in Tennessee and hated Phillip Fulmer with a PASSION basically just because he beat the socks off of us every year and then had the live with these obnoxious UT fans all year afterward.
It still stings knowing we not only could of had him as our coach, but kept him away from Louisville.
UK's made some big coaching blunders over the years (not hiring schnellenberger, not hiring Frank Beamer, barnheart passing on a young Sean Payton ect ect)
Petrino may end up being the worst, not just because of what he could have done here but because of what he will end up doing over there......
sucks.

To be fair it was just an affair. I could forgive that, but hiring your mistress, who was less qualified, over other people more qualified. Then Lying about it to your boss about the whole thing. Crashing a motocycle, again lying about who was with you to keep from uncovering things.
College chicks can make a man that age do some crazy ish. It happens.
The problem with that is is continues to push us down the coach poll when better opportunities are presented. The better coaches go to better programs and we get left with less talented options.Let's see what happens as big name program coaches seats get hot again. Like at LSU, maybe Auburn. Let's see how loyal and upstanding he is if one of these programs shows interest.
Yep. Another article still talking about his past. This is why we didn't want him around here. Too much baggage!!!!
you really think Briles covered it up like he has all that time on his hands? please........ any woman going to the coaching staff instead of the police is just looking for money.
Take the bet and retire a rich man.Lil Bro fans talking about hanging a 100 on our Cats this year. Hard to take but " it is what it is "
we all need to get over the fact that people dabble in gray areas, as well as poon on the side
To Otis fans and the country "winning" makes all that disappear like HRC's emails:football::football::smiley::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses:...I agree MB was right...his hiring has turned into a train wreck for Otis and TJ!!To be fair it was just an affair. I could forgive that, but hiring your mistress, who was less qualified, over other people more qualified. Then Lying about it to your boss about the whole thing. Crashing a motocycle, again lying about who was with you to keep from uncovering things. All this While possibly exposing your university to lawsuits of the handling of hiring within the football offices is not something most athletic directors want to deal with.
The guy can coach, but he is a time bomb waiting to explode. U.K. Doesn't control the media as uofl does. The Lexington herald would be snooping through every price of garbage to break a scandle.
Would love to have someone with his coaching ability. But his other baggage is hard to justify hiring. Don't blame Mitch on this one.
I am disagreeing. Today's culture is to vilify anyone for doing wrong. But the moment they win, all is forgiven and they are hailed as a part of the productive society. Fans of rivals will still take shots, fans of the winning team will say others are jealous.Doesn't matter. He's toxic until he's totally cleared. Even then, it'll be tough for him to get a big job. It's the nature of today's culture/media/court system. Too much title 9 risk. Too much pr heat.
Just today, otl did a segment blasting Baylor for allowing Oakman in the lockerroom. He's only been charged with rape, not convicted.
Not saying I agree or disagree. But that's the current climate
Bill and Hillary approve this messageUK fans and admin seem to be stuck on playing a game that nobody else is playing.
We're at a bare knuckle mud brawl dressed in all white clinching a bible in one hand and NCAA rule book in the other.
Barring Baylor and Penn St type issues we all need to get over the fact that people dabble in gray areas, as well as poon on the side, and that out of 53 players some are going to be rough.
That is the case in all other areas of society. People get strange on the side, rules are not always followed to a T, and out of any sample of 53 people from anywhere a handful are going to be rotten.

But the only thing that really does matter is winning.
With Otis now being in the Acc I see nothing that would ever make him leave, but bama.Let's see what happens as big name program coaches seats get hot again. Like at LSU, maybe Auburn. Let's see how loyal and upstanding he is if one of these programs shows interest.
But he was also known for being an SOB. He let his players run wild and the next coach had to get rid of a bunch of them. He rides the players hard and is a tyrant always wanting perfection in others.
That being said, I still think him having any thoughts of coming here are overblown. And his way of getting his name in the press again.
If the cards continue on winning and possibly make the playoffs then Petrino will be in demand for potential openings like LSU, Auburn, etc.
I think what happens then will be a true test if he is a "changed man". If he remains loyal to Jurich who has given him the opportunities, he will stay and the changed man dialog will perhaps be valid.
I most certainly agree. There are certain offenses that have no reason to be given second chances.I agree in general, but not with rape or domestic violence. Since title 9 morphed into a weapon rather than a shield, those 2 acts are toxic. Any repeat offense by a player under that coach, even when they coach at a different school, results in massive civil liability for each instance.
Schools just won't take that financial risk.
Any other transgressions, I totally agree.
If he was so "changed" why did he leave WKU after one year?

I love your avatar. I almost gag thinking about that scene. If he was so "changed" why did he leave WKU after one year?
