The haters always predict a loss, and they pull it out anyway. Oregon State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon (again), TCU, Virginia Tech, Georgia, doesn't matter.<div>

if we would have them. Or Pac-12 or Big 12 or anyone. They can't help that no conference will take them or that few AQ teams are willing to schedule them. But on the rare occasions when they get a chance to play a good team, they always pull through.

But playing the 7th best team in the SEC shouldn't be your free ticket to the BCSCG. If we got to play a schedule of nothing but CUSA, WAC, MAC, etc teams, and then only one major conference team, and not even a good one, that shouldn't get us into the BCS.

It's not that they aren't good, its that they don't have to prove it. They might go into the BCSCG and destroy someone. Or lose by 50. And we would have no idea coming in if they're really good or not.

Also, the use of the term "haters" makes you seem like a 17ing moron.

I refuse to take them serious until they play more than one decent game a year. They caught Georgia on a down year, beat a VT team that lost to JAMES 17'n MADISON last year.

If its credit people want to for them taking care of business in their one big game a year....they got it. But until they AT LEAST rack that nonconference schedule up with 4 tough games(and if they got to travel to do it so be it) then their perception will always be what it is...the tallest midget in the bunch.

The only reason I really wanted Georgia to beat them is so we don't have to hear all year long about BSU getting screwed.

I respect the hell out of what they've built.. they are not afluke. However, the guys tonight said this was their toughest game and it it looked like smooth sailing into the bcs/Unless Georgia sweeps the SEC, its really difficult to say that is enough to play for the NC. Hell, according to the pollsters, we play Georgia and 4 to 5 teams apparently better than them.

I would like to see them play LSU or Bama, or one of the elite teams such as Florida a few years ago.

What they've done is remarkable. But yeah, I've got to pull against them in the games.

Yep they always pull it out until they meet a powerhouse like Nevada. Like others said, the worst part about this game is that now we have to hear about how Boise is the best team ever in the history of football all damn season. They will lose to a ****** team just like last year, which was supposed to be "their year". I just hope it happens sooner rather than later so we can actually hear news about teams that deserve it. The good news is that Georgia sucks and we get to play them at their place this year.<div>

I didn't say Boise sucked, but Georgia isn't good. When ESPN and every other dipshit out there starts talking about how we should be in the national championship game every minute of the day, let me know. Just because Boise beat a bad Georgia team doesn't mean they should play in the NC game, but get ready for it. If we went through our entire schedule undefeated we should, and would, be in the NC game. Can you honestly say the same thing about Boise?

<div>and that's depending on whether TCU folds this year or not. It's apples and oranges to compare BSU to an SEC program because the dynamic of their schedules are radically different. Much easier to hide a mediocre program behind their schedule, I'll give you that. My point is that just because UGA lost in week 1 to a Boise team with a seasoned QB with all offseason to prepare for them, if we (hypothetically) lose to them in Athens doesn't mean that we should (hypothetically) hang our heads in shame.</div><div>

Here's something to think about though. We always use the SEC as the measuring stick. But everyone knows it is by far the best football conference. But if you have a team go undefeated in the ACC or Big East or Big 10 then they will go to the national championship. Do you think Boise could play those schedules and be undefeated? Because I definitely do. They beat the ACC champion last year for crying out loud.

That's because it's a rare occasion that they play a good team. It's a lot harder to "always pull through" when the good teams come every other weekend as opposed to once or twice a season.

Thats my point though. If Boise went undefeated in a bad conference (which I think they could), then they would be in the national championship game. Undefeated Pac 10 winner = National Championship birth. The argument that they wouldn't go undefeated in the SEC isn't very fair. No other team in the nation would go undefeated in the SEC, as proven by the past 5 National Championships. That doesn't mean they aren't worthy of being in the championship talks

Here's the problem with Boise. They're good, and they're in a bad
conference. Nobody is saying they're not good. The question is how
good? Most teams in a BCS conference have a schedule that includes,
yes 8 or 9 games or more against BCS foes, but most importantly nobody
from a BCS conference can get to a BCS game without being truly tested by several tough opponents all in the same season. You wont get to a BCS game in a BCS conference unless you're good enough to beat other teams that would otherwise be the conference champs/BCS participants. If you added up all of Boise's quality OOC games from the past 10 years, and combined it into one season that would be a resume similar to the average BCS conference's runner up.

How about this, lets reverse the situation. Lets stick all 12 SEC teams
into MAC/WAC/MWC/CUSA/OVC by themselves. Now lets say each of them has
to play one game against a middle of the road Big12 school. Alabama,
LSU, Arkansas, and Florida are all now ending the season 12-0. Hell,
for this season we can throw in MSU and USC. Don't give me the "well
then you wouldn't have all the SEC money so you wouldn't be that good!"
line, because it's irrelevant in this situation. There's no argument
that Boise is good, and that they would be better with more money.

Boise could be as good as a middle of the pack team in a BCS conference,
all the way to the best team in the country, and we would never know
the difference because the sample size of important games per year is
far too small. It would be a travesty if the former were true and a
great 1 loss team gets left out while the eventual champ pounds the
potatos out of Boise's anus for a 50 point win.

As you can see, it may not be their own fault, but it's just not fair to
allow a team that plays 11 patsies a year to play for the national
championship over a team that's beaten 7 ranked teams and lost to 1.

What
if Boise and another SEC team, say LSU, Bama, or Florida, etc. faces
off in a BCS bowl, not the title game since Boise never makes it despite
going undefeated, and beats them? Will they then be elite?

For that year? Maybe. Who the 17 knows? And does winning a BCS bowl game one year mean they deserve
a BCSCG shot the next year? They could have the same 12-0 record going
in, but in real conference terms, they could be 4 or 5 losses
worse, and nobody would have any way to know. Then do you put that
not-nearly as good team into the BCSCG because they were great the
previous year, but they suck and end up shitting the bed?

That's why they're a problem. A 12-0 Boise team could mean ANYTHING. Until there's playoffs or Boise joins a bigboy conference, the only way Boise can be NOT a problem is when they lose a game. That sums up why we cheer against them.

If they were in the BigEast and ran the table, they would be in the champ game.
Running the table in the Big East is more difficult than that MWC or WAC, but not by much.

I bet they could do it every 5 years. And they could get into a BCS game every couple years at worst.

Boise tries to schedule top teams, but most won't play them. I wonder why. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they are well coached and could beat them. The LSU's of the worlddon't want to play them for that reason. So they play who they can. They desperately desire to move up to a better conference, but again that takes time, it takes intermediate steps, and again people don't want to play them.

In one game, they can play with and beat anyone and they have proven this. The SEC fans in their arrogance tout schedule strength. What these fans fail to account for is how much being in the SEC helps them recruit. Serioulsy, how many players do we get in on simply because of conference affiliation. Boise doesn't have that. Put Boise in the SEC with SEC money, SEC recruiting, and they wouldn't be the same as they are now. Comparing Boise to an SEC team is an apples to orange comparison. The schedule argument is a red herring.

Boise State is a prime example of why we need an 8- or 16-team playoff. I agree that it would be tough to justify putting them straight into a BCS Championship game, but they surely have earned a chance to prove they're the best on the field. <div>
</div><div>If we had a playoff that included a good non-AQ team or two (or if all 11 conferences got a bid, ending the artificial AQ/non-AQ barrier), we'd all know for a fact whether Boise, etc., could compete, rather than arguing about it on the Internet.</div>

The only one who rose to the challenge was UGA, who should have lost by 4 TD's but didn't.

would definatley give them more losses. Not to discredit the win last night but to say that justifies them for a national championship if they win out is bogus. They do seem to rise to the occassion for big games but the problem is that there is not enough big games on their schedule. I'd like to see them pull off a 3 game stretch like State with Auburn, LSU, and GA in 2010 with out a loss.

allow them to recruit a roster full of SEC players using the SEC name so that they can withstand that schedule.

The whole "so and so doesn't deserve to play in the national title game because they don't play in a real conference" is just plain ridiculous. You guys sound like G. Gordon Gee. It's called BCS propaganda. It's what the people who make millions off of 19 year old black players who will never see a dime use to justify putting their teams in those big money making games year after year while denying the same opportunity to teams who work hard to try to break into the gentlemen's club to no avail. It's phoney baloney, pure and simple. Don't buy it. That's why they don't want a playoff scenario.
