Post from Paul Jones. Paul breaks 95% of the recruiting for Mississippi State and Steve Robertson tweeted some nonsense yesterday making fun of Paul not attending the SEC tournament. You know what's funny Steve - SixPackSpeak that doesn't provide an ounce of information has more twitter followers than you.

As always I dont get into this petty
back and forth shots between networks. But also as always, when called
out I will always defend myself. With that said, a tweet earlier today
from a MSU scout reporter gave a 'shoutout' to sites that covered their
school's big events instead of running media relations releases. For
those that say that site doesn't throw shots at our site (mainly cause
of what we've accomplished in less than a year) then you are not looking
very hard.

Yes, that was a shot at me and yes, I was unable to make the SEC
baseball tournament and rarely travel for events outside of football and
some basketball games. I traveled for 15 straight years in the
newspaper business and was paid for my mileage and hotel rooms on those
trips. I am not in a financial position yet to travel as I please
especially with a six-month old at the house and two other kids. But
this site will get their soon enough and I thank God every single day
for blessing me to work with 247sports network cause it is the best
around with the best people around.

Truth is, every single MSU media member that covered the SEC
Tournament and other road events gets reimbursed for their travel except
for Logan Lowery, who made the long week in Hoover, Ala., on his own
dime.

As you know me by now, I go all out for coverage of MSU sports
and recruiting and summer camps. I travel around north Mississippi every
spring talking to MSU prospects and hs coaches and don't have to tweet
about it every time I leave the house. I cover every single hour of MSU
camps and don't just show up one day for a few hours and call it a week.

Now, I say all of this to defend being called out today. I know
some of our members dont like the shots taken at other sites/networks
and neither do I. Personally I consider many of the media members my
friends (Logan, John Farley, Bob Carskadon, Brad Locke, Brandon
Marcello, Michael Wardlaw) and interact with them on a friendly basis
every week of our jobs). So I am just standing up for what was said
against me today and don't want this thread into a 'bash another
network' situation. So I have spoken my peace to the ones I worry about -
my loyal subscribers - and will leave this thread locked (which is the
first thread I've ever locked, lol).

First off, who the hell needs a subscription site to go out and cover a sporting event that is being covered by both local and national media? The pieces that are put out are all constructed using the same quotes from the same interviews. Those who subscribe to a pay site do so for the insider information that is gained from having close access to the MSU sports programs - something which isn't easy to do when you live in Baton Rouge. I guess there is a reason that Paul and 247 are continuing to grow while Scout is stagnant, at best.

..pandering, ***-kissing puppet of the MSU status quo since the mid-1990's.

That's why he kicked hundreds of people off his board in the early 2000's...they were challenging the MSU/Larry Templeton status quo.

So it's ironic one of gene's henchmen would be talking **** about "running media relations releases."

Steve is garbage. I don't understand why Steve and Gene feel the need to go on the offensive against Paul and John Farley not too long ago. Not only that, Steve is BAD for MSU. Every year he pisses off recruits. If you know any former/current football players ask them about Steve. He is our Yancy and I disdain him just as much

but I couldn't care less about tournament coverage from an MSU related site or message board. I read these boards to find out things I don't know, not scores of games or lineups that could be uncovered by pulling out my iphone for 5 seconds. To me, Paul seems to be someone that knows his audience and does what he can to please them while staying within certain financial limitations. Gene/Steve, on the other hand, seem to be more concerned with holding up a banner and putting down people that should be friends rather than rivals. Whatever value the lake had at one time is completely gone, and I have no idea why anyone would actually still pay for access to that site.

On multiple occasions he has "broken" stories due to the fact a recruitnaivelytrusted him with time sensitive information.

He's broken recruiting stories even after recruits have told him something to the effect of "I am going to be a Dawg, but let me tell the masses this Friday because I personally want to tell the world." What makes this even more frustrating is that these recruits are telling several of the premium sites the same thing...AND THEY ALL HONOR THE RECRUITS WISHES...except for Steve Robertson. You can usually tell this is the case when Rosebowl breaks a story a 10am, then the recruit announces at 2pm, and Paul Jones, Logan Lowery, and Wardlaw have a story up at 2:01pm. They knew the "news" just like Rosebowl. They just have more journalisticintegrity than him.

If you are a recruit, please don't talk to the Mississippi State Scout writers.

that used to title his recruiting information as "Paul's Dawg Biscuits, Better Than Bones"? None of the recruiting websites (or any of their "gurus")are above the pettiness and drama, that espcially includes Robertson. However its funny watching their respective friends and followers ignoreor justify the actions of the websites theysubscribe and play up the an opposing sites' actions.

Somebody I know gave some money toward the new football building and invited me along to the groundbreaking back in the Fall. The big hitters got the seats, but it's not like the one's standing were there because they only pitched in a few bucks. Gene was bouncing around with his handycam like he was shooting an action flick, and here was our view of Dr. Keenum's remarks...

A simple "Move" is usually good enough to get a codpiece like that out of the way.

I just want to hear about MS State sports, not any petty ********. Steve is always throwing shots at Paul on twitter, and I finally took the time to unfollow him. Easily the best decision i've made in quite some time. I remember not too long ago, Steve had a tweet of something along the lines of "Some people need to realize they are an RC Cola in a Coke and Pepsi world." Or something like that. I read his tweets for recruiting news, not for PMSing tweets like that. Stick another tampon in douchebag.

I had never really been in a setting like that, but the eye rolls and quick get aways from conversations with him was very apparent by staff and donors alike. Thet really do just seem to put up with his crap. I guess he's got enough subscribers that they just can't tell him to 17 off.

he did that because Steve and Gene accused him of stealing their bones or something of that nature. It wasn't like Paul said I want to be a dick today at scout's expense...

we're in agreement on the MSU side. Steve lost 2% of his twitter followers for picking his little fight with Paul since the post went up on here(not that it's significant really, other than showing people ignoring him). The more people ignore Steve, the closer to him going away, and the better it is for MSU.

He tried HARD to mess us up with multiple recruits last year. How many times did he break Beniquez and Richie Brown to MSU before it actually happened? Everyone knew it was probably true, but they wanted to have their big moment, and he was the ONLY State beat-writer that refused to honor their wishes...
