As expected, Kameron Wood received an extra star on Scout

But so did Dak Prescott, Josh Robinson, and Rufus Warren for M-State... With that said, I maintain that star ratings are mostly meaningless.

Some of our best players in recent history have been two and three stars, with several notable highly-ranked failures, and even more solid-but-not-spectacular highly-ranked players.

And you think OM people are bad? Have you followed the other SEC schools? This is endemic in the ranking system, that bias and bitching will over time change what should be static ranks.

Going by BCS offers is helpful, but not necessarily ideal. Lawon Scott was lightly recruited and many said Orgeron was "reaching" when we signed him. He's been a three year, if not starter, major contributor. As a senior, he helps anchor the interior of the line.

Really, who knows. It is so patently obvious that some players are amazing that a handful of 5 stars will almost always shake out. Aside from that? These guys have no journalistic integrity, they are just looking to make a buck.

b/c of the verbal vs. committable offer, which makes no damn sense.

what is/are the common denominator(s) for success in college football?

I understand a coach can take highly rated recruits and suck (Read Les Miles), but historically the programs that sign classes with high "star" power usually win more games, championships, etc... are you saying that pattern is coincidental?</p>

What are you complaining about? Wood is a 3 star and he should be a 3 star. He wasn't evaluated yet. Warren, Prescott, Robinson, and Cox also all got evaluated and they got evaluated appropriately. I think Cox ends up a 3 star but he's at a 2 star now. Funny how you didn't point out Prewitt dropped to a 3 star. Stop bitching. Both teams are going to have good classes this year. With Nutt's lack of OL recruiting, all these highly rated FL speedsters won't be able to do **** unless his Hargrave guys end up being good. They also still have QB issues after this season when Masoli moves on. I don't think Miller is the answer.

the chances of being able to win increase dramatically. When you are dealing in a handful of 4s and then mostly 2s/3s, you are in crapshoot range.

when they're in that 4-5 range...

data suggests if you want to be successful in the SEC, you need your classes to average about 3.5 or better year after year...

...oh, and good coaching, too....
