He is by far our best running back. If he doesn't have hole, he'll make one. It baffles me that we burned his red shirt and we don't even use him. We put him in on one play last night and he makes a key block to allow Dak's 75 yd. run. This guy is a game changer.

I would love an explanation on Shumpert. They toss the redshirt like he is about to get 10-15 touches a game and then he disappears again. He shows up vs LSU on special teams a couple times and was in very few plays last night.

I like Shumpert a lot and think he will eventually be one of the best ever at MSU, but it is a stretch to say he is by far our best back right now. Robinson is the one that should be getting more touches.

I would like to see us bring Shumpert in on goal to go situations because he has a nose for the end zone.

He did get the key block that let Dak go for a 75 yard TD run.

He's a Freshman. He will be good but to say he's our best back would be a stretch. He's a contributor and that's all you hope for out of freshmen.

Knowing the full playbook?

whether he knows it or not, I don't know,
but that tends to keep a lot of the younger guys on the sidelines. Except for spot play.

guys, with a coaching staff wrought with bad decisions, is it really that shocking? i mean, i SHOULD be outraged, but im not....its just the status quo.

im more upset that he isnt getting more opportunities. he is a physical runner and has done the little things we have asked in a very unselfish manner...sp teams, being the block that springs a 75 yard td run....i dont know...its not like he has ever looked bad or ill-prepared in his few opportunities...quite the opposite. im not saying give him the lions share of the snaps, but when nobody else can make a significant impact, why not give the freshman an opportunity. its working well for the arkansas freshman rb collins and he is gaining valuable experience in the process.

So really the only thing we can all agree on is our backfield is stacked... no matter who you believe should be getting the #1 spot we should all be wondering why we're not running more two back sets. It's just so obvious sometimes. Each RB has a strength and when they're in the D always knows what we're going to do with him.

I can't agree with you on this. We don't have an SEC caliber running back getting quality snaps right now. Look at Georgia, LSU, Bama, Auburn. Perkins and Robinson wouldn't sniff the field on those teams. We need a Dixon or Ballard type running back quickly if we want to truly contend next season. I'm hoping Griffin can find a way to get back healthy for next season or that Shumpert pans out.

This pretty much is the only response. It's just one bad decision after another.

You people out there can keep defending, but the writing is already showing up on the wall. Mullen's days as a first-time head coach are almost up. He did a great job getting us where we are and I am grateful for it, but he has reached the limits to his success.

All it takes to beat Danny Mullen is one, maybe two, in-game adjustments. After that, he keeps doing what he does and it's just another typical loss.

I would say that the problem is on the OL. We have capable backs.

Plus, State needs to blow-out these OOC games so that the underclassmen can get reps and keep the starters rested.
