I had been using Nerovision for the past five years to author football and basketball DVD's, but with a new Win7 PC this year, I'm inclined to want to try something new. Just looking basically for the ability to author DVD from MPG files, create rudimentary menus (perhaps a little less rudimentary than Nero), and that's about it.

Anybody got anything they like?

There is no one great solution. I'm like you . . . Nero Vision has been the main program I've used for DVD Authoring. I have Roxio Creator Pro 2010, and it has its own pluses and minus compared with Nero. I have heard reasonably good things about Corel Video Studio Pro X3, but the reviews are so-so on the interwebs.

Actually, the built-in Windows DVD Maker is not a bad program, given that it is included with Win7. Basic, but it does a decent job.

If you can still use Nero 8, then I would do that, though I don't think you can do any blu-ray ripping/burning. NeroVersions 9 and 10 are nightmare bloatware and do nothing but take longer to encode video and suck up system resources like Coach34 does our patience.
