I need to get a couple of christmas gifts for family coming with us to Jacksonville. Any suggestions outside of the obvious (B&N, Lodge)?</p>

I know I'm a small sample size, but the bell I got from this place as a gift is complete crap. Lost the clanger literally the first time I rang it. The rod was cheap and flimsy so I replaced it, but it still doesn't have a very good sound. It's very light and the walls of the bell seem too thin. I don't recommend these.

I know I had a clacker issue earlier this Fall. Truly sorry 'bout that. I've nipped that in the bud. No problems since I started reinforcing them. Some things you just have to live-and-learn. As for the gauge thickness of the metal, that is a matter of personal preference. Most people like the lighter metal like mine. The heavier bells get cumbersome for ringing.

Regarding the sound of the cowbells, they each seem to have a bit different ring. On my next order, I'm going to have my welder migweld all the way up the seams on the side. That should make for an outstanding sound. It'll be awhile before I'm ready for another order though. But I rarely get any complaints about the sound. Again, it's just personal preference.

and has a heavy clacker...and it's seems quite a bit louder than the bells being rung around me. Mine's old, I have no idea who made it, but I'd guess AM General by the way it's put together.

I had issues as well once, but my cowbell took care of it.

The guy really took care of me, and explained the supplier challenges he had. Apparently, he gave his supplier grief - explaining that his customers would not stand for inferior bells or clacker issues. Seems he has rectified it.

IMO, his service was outstanding. He jumped at the chance to "make it good with me", and I can't imagine he wouldn't do the same for others. I have bought many (gifts, my collection, and so on) from mycowbell - even since he was running Cowbell Central. They have all been good bells, so I am thinking he just ran into a slight snag. Have to think that might happen from time-to-time no matter the product.

Anyway, I like getting bells from mycowbell.com and will continue to do so. At least if you DO have an issue, this guy will answer you and take care of you. And personally too.

Go Dawgs. Beat Michigan. And please................more cowbell!

You can control the quality and finish it any way you want. Note: Welding up the seams do make them much louder. I put a little more effort into making my own, but it was worth it. I have more than one person try to buy it every game I attend.

was welded back together and it definitely changed the tone of it. There are dents in the sides where the clapper has pushed the sides out over the 30 years of ringing it. I got my dads when he passed away and took it to one game this year. May have to retire mine one day to start ringing his.
