I think this is going to be an interesting coaching search. Pearl revitalized UT basketball, and I think they get a good coach because of him. They are a much better program now than when Pearl took over, so I think this is a big time job now.

I've said for the past week that Shaka Smart will get a very serious look, and I think it's the direction they go. I will be interested to see if Few's name gets thrown around for this job. I know alot of people think he won't leave the West Coast. But if Tennessee comes calling, I think he might take it.But my money is on Shaka Smart. Brad Stevens name may get thrown around too. I know he signed a nice contract, but Tennessee will provide him a lot more perks that Butler can't.

over at volnation they are throwing names like lavin, few, stevens, smart a round ...espn4d said he didn't think they would get a young good coach because of looming ncaa violations ...so i am not sure what they do at this point.

i'd be shocked if mark few left gonzaga for anyone. he's an oregon alum, and oregon went after him hard last year, god knows how much $$ they (phil knight) offered him + brand new state of the art arena and he didn't take it. he's a gonzaga lifer.<div>
</div><div>same story with stevens. oregon reportedly offered him 3 times more than what he made at butler for the 2009-2010 season (butler ~$750K, oregon offered ~$2.2M) and stevens stayed put. stevens also left a lucrative financial career to coach basketball, so he sounds like a guy that isn't swayed by big $$ (when he left to coach he didn't step right into a HC job). unless there is 1 or 2 jobs out there he is waiting on that haven't come available, i think he's a butler lifer.</div><div>
</div><div>as hard as it is to believe, sometimes having a secure job with a mid-major making a $1.2M and being THE MAN on campus is better than making $2M in a high pressure situation at major conf school where football reigns supreme and fans want wins and want wins fast and you are dealing with more prima donna recruits and shady aau recruiting practices because by the nature of the program you are recruiting a much higher level of athlete. and both few and stevens have proven they can take the less heralded recruits and compete on a national level. so why leave outside of a short-sighted grasp at a little more money in the immediate future? </div>
