This tells me that he wasn't going to be in the mix for the WVU job in 2-3 years. I can't see Huggs going more than 2 years.

I was referring to the next head coach, not the assistant position.
Joe is still staying in NBA as he wants to coach there. Has interviewed several times this year. That is his goal.

Nichols, great player not sure if he's a great HC as of yet. Still has time to improve though.

Not happening. Joe staying in NBA. Nichols a HC, why would he drop down to be a CIW?

When Huggs steps down they should hire outside the program.
Big agree. I feel like there are very few positive examples of former players or long time assistants filling in the shoes of a legendary head coach.

Pivot to new blood, give Huggins a ceremony at the Coliseum for a night, and move on. Allow the new guy to put his own stamp on it.

The thing with Nichols is that he has a blend of his first years (Beilein) and Huggins.

Nichols IMO doesn’t have the right experience to take a job at the power conference level right now. It could be disastrous on top of him being overshadowed by the legacy of his old coach.
