How the hell do you choose? You know Jarvis will start, and Bost is PG. Stans loves Randy "the brick" Stewart, so i guess he starts. Out of Sidney, Augustus, Turner, Ravern, and an apparently much improved Osby...who starts? What does our lineup look like? Are we subbing like a hockey team? lol This is a great problem to have. We'll be performing line changes instead of subbing in one or two guys. Then you still have Beckham, Benock, and Wendell Lewis who has played way better than expected. All of this does not even inlclude Riek and Bailey (Bailey probably out for the year, but Riek does get into the mix eventually).

Varnado, Augustus, Johnson, Stewart and Bost

Lewis subs for Varnado
Sidney subs for Augustus or 5 position
Osby subs for Johnson or 4 position
Turner subs for Stewart or 3 or 4 positions
Benock subs for 2 and 3
Stewart slides over for the 1 when needed

When Riek is eligible then he plays some 5 and Lewis also picks up some time at the 4

If Benock is healthy I don't see why we need Smith this year and either he redshirts or does spot duty

PG - Dee Bost
SG - Barry Stewart
SF - Ravern Johnson
PF - Kodi Augustus
C - Jarvis Varnardo

I think Phil Turner and Renardo Sidney will be the first off the bench with Phil playing mostly guard this year. Coach Stansbury has traditionally been loyal to his veterans. For that reason, I don't see Sidney starting ahead of Kodi Augustus at the beginning of the year. Being out of shape doesn't help Sidney either. I think Stans will bring him along slowly.

As long as Barry Freakin Stewart isnt on the floor the whole game. Stewart needs to come off the bench...he's the best momentum killer in the country

thats why Turner and Randy are working at PG...

I think our first game is Kodi at the 4 with Sidney coming off the bench. I also look for Kodi, Sidney, and Swat to all be on the floor at times to see what that looks like. I hope Osby overtakes Ravern's minutes at the 3 and gives us some toughness in that spot

I think it will be Jarvis, Sidney, Kodi, Barry and Dee with (in no particular order) Turner, Ravern, Osby, Lewis and Benock coming off the bench.
Whatever the starting line up is, we will be able to give teams a number of different looks. Stans' biggest challenge is going to be sharing the minutes.

it will be early in the year, but i think at some point in the season (unless renardo just is clueless all year) that it will be:

dee
randy
kodi
renardo
jarvis

I think there will more than likely be some team chemistry issues with as many big egos we have on this team, which will defininitely be a problem. But maybe stans can work some magic, cause if this team gels and puts aside their egos look out FINAL FOUR.

What it should be.
PG- Bost
SG- Johnson (Stewart if Ravern decides again this year not to play defense or get on his pouty lazy streak)
SF- Turner
PF- Augustus
C- Varnado

What it will be.
PG-Bost
SG-Stewart
SF-Johnson
PF-Augustus
C-Varnado

No way you can keep Phil out of the starting line up. If you can recall last year when everyone else was suckin he basically held the team together. He was the glue down the stretch. He has a contagious energy and we need him on the court.

PG Bost
SG Turner
SF Augustus
PF Sidney
C Varnardo

but it will be:

PG Bost

The only problem would be if we faced a team that can really pressure. but the 2 3 zone would dominate on d and our offensive half court and rebounding would be sick

No way this guy needs to sit the bench. He is our vocal leader and the reason we won the SEC tournament last year. If Ricky does not start him I will personally go tackle Snead in the egg bowl.

Are simply showing your total ignorance about basketball. Barry Stewart is an excellent two guard who is versatile enough to play the point. He is the best defender on the court--not the best shot blocker--but the best defender. In addition, he is the most consistent offensive threat we have--and he is clutch. No player on the team has won more games in the clutch than Barry Stewart. Those of you who continue to bash Stewart must do it because you think it's cool--because so many others on this board have taken up that gauntlet. You are simply showing your lack of basketball knowlege by doing it.

Phil Turner- Rebounds-198 Blocks-18 Steals-46

Barry Stewart- Rebounds-135 Blocks-10 Steals-46

These are last years stats.

I am just comparing one player. And I don't know if you watched the SEC tourney or not but no one was more clutch than Phil. I don't bash Barry all the time but he did lead the team in turnovers. I don't believe in bashing him except when he takes his dubmass shots but I really don't believe in putting him on a pedastal like you are doing.

and gets in a hurry. he turns the ball over way too much for a guard and he will jack up some really stupid shots under pressure. he makes momentum killing mistakes in big games time and time again.

that said, he is a great defender and he has come through in the clutch plenty of times. for me, i think that's where the dislike comes from. he is like a yo-yo and you never know whether barry or randy is going to take the court at any given time. it's very frustrating. if that makes me ignorant, then i guess i am.

He is the first McDonald's All American since Mario Austin, right? Unless his attitude just sucks, he has to start, particularly since by all accounts he will be a one and done. I think this is a great problem for Rick to have this year and we will finally get to judge his real coaching abilities. Talent will not be the problem on this team.

it looks like when Dee isn't on point, Shaun Smith will be running it. Of course, Turner wasn't playing, but, to me, it looked like Stans is going to do the same thing he did with Beckham last year with Shaun Smith this year.

edit: changed 'scrimmage' to 'exhibition game'
/i'm also fairly certain no one really cares why I edited my own post.

Until Renardo Sudney BOTH gets eligible and in game shape:

PG: Dee Bost
SG: "Randy" Stewart
SF: "Ray" Johnson
F: Kodi Augustus
F: Jarvis Varnado

6th man: Phil Turner
7th man: Ro Osby
8th man: Wendell Lewis
9th man: Riley Benock

Renardo came in at 307 pounds. He is currently about 285, was down to 280 before he got a "red throat" virus last week and missed 3 days of 2 a days. His hobby is eating! They want him at 260.

What's impressive about that lineup, assuming Sidney becomes eligible, is that we're a legit ten deep for the second year in a row.

If we lose a game or two in November/December, or when we lose our first SEC game, whoever started shouldn't have, whoever was on the bench in the last minute should have taken the tying shot, etc. The only thing for certain is 1. Bost and 5. Jarvis. Bost is the only one who doesn't have a clear backup, and Jarvis is really the only proven commodity on this team. I'm almost as sure Barry will start at the 2. While he's an offensive liability at times, Rick calls Barry his best defender. The 3 and 4 depend on a lot of things and could change a lot depending on matchups, but to start I'd say 3. Phil and 4. Kodi. That leaves a lot of talent on the bench. Good problem to have, I suppose. For whatever reason, I used 4 first names and only one last name.

Sidney damn well better start if he gets cleared considering how big of deal has been made out of him playing on our team. What a slap in the face to him if he doesn't buy hey competition may be his Achilles heal....
