Assuming Texas A&M joins the SEC, who would you add?

If we add two teams: aTm/Va. Tech

If we add four teams: aTm, Mizzou/Va. Tech, NC State (I think we'd have a better chance with NC State than with UNC)

Kansas would be a good choice. Their football is average at best, and the basketball program is top 5 all time.

If we go to 14 teams:

TA&M plus VaTech

If we need 2 more then in the West I would offer them in this order:
1 OU Great program
2 TCU Dallas Fort Worth market and good program
3 Texas Fantastic program a pain in the *** who has to have a better deal than everyone else, not a good partner

In the East:

1 NC State
2 UNC

But I don't get a say or vote. Sure will be fun to see how it shakes out.

I read where Slive is thinking outside the box so here goes nothing:

Add A&M to the west add UNC, NC State, and Duke to the east. Then move Vandy to the West so both divisions have an academic anchor, and this also balances the strength of the two divisions.

I just don't understand the fuss that's being made by academics. These are all colleges; it's not like any one of these schools have the education level equivalent to Lanier High School. In the south, football is king, and it looks like academics is just being used as an excuse some schools, i.e. Texas do to not join the SEC, where it would be harder to dominate.

The academic success of athletes has nothing to do with the academics of the school. In theory, those athletes struggling with academics SHOULD be going to the best schools. The work is hard.

joins, that would be a cow college of sorts. VaTech wold be another cow college......need a contrast and that turns into a smorgasboard.

would be a little less accusatory with the whole "I'm sick of all you flyover country morons holding me back! I'm going to go hang out with Stanford. They get me." stuff.

WhileI do not necessarily like NC State I thinkthey make sense because itbroadens our market, and I agree we will not get NC....too much to the NC/Dukerivalry to split that up.

Who gives a 17 if any of the teams join the SEC! The SEC should not have ask anyone to join, they should be begging to let them join the SEC. We win the BCS, we go to final four, we have two maybe four teams in CWS. The SEC just spilt up the most tv money of any conference. Why do we have to ask anybody? Let them beg us or how money are they willing to pay to join us.

Sure, the SEC should sit back and let the Pac-10 form the most dominant conference in the country and not make any moves to adjust. What a terrible idea.

Some very notable schools are about to leave their conference...the SEC will either grow or be outgrown.

are the two schools that are generally considered to be cow colleges in the SEC by most observers. Most land grant institutions meet the definition. I also think LSU is a land grant institution, but it has a broad curricula that obfuscates the cow college side. As far as Florida is concerned, I though Florida State would be the cow college more than UF. And what about Arkansas State? Just asking, don't know.

LSU and UK have a higher percentage of their enrollments in agriculture than MSU.

UF has a huge AFES....

FSU is not an ag school....I suppose you assume that due to the "State University" in the name, I have no other reason to guessyou would make that assumption.
