profile recruit of all time in any sport at MSU ???

As another question, just who has been the most high profile, highly recruited that we have actually went on to sign in the Big 3 of all time?

Football---David Fair ?
Jerious Norwood ?

Basketball--- E. Dampier ?

Baseball--- Clark, Palmeiro ??

signing wasn't the problem. it was getting them on campus. i don't exactly remember, but i think bender signed and maybe both outlaw and ellis. none made it to starkville.

i think easley would be one of the biggest baseball recruits we signed.

I seem to recall that he was rated as the #1 option QB in high school football in the nation when he signed in 1980.

Edit to add: Honorable Mention goes to Eddie Hornback who was seen as one of the top high school QBs in the nation. He signed with Notre Dame and transferred to MSU where he played DE.

For football and baseball. I can't remember, but Presley was something like top 15, if not top 10 in the first round of the MLB draft and was a Parade All-American in football.

I think he threw 93-94 in high school, and had a nasty curveball. His HS baseball stats are sick. He also led Tupelo to the State Championship as a QB.

I kind of like the fact that he is a mythical figure in MSU lore, because I want to firmly believe that he would have led us to the NC in baseball and the Sugar Bowl in football. There is no way he could have lived up to my expectations.

Yeah, its a pretty nice site, in that it compiles all the recruiting site rankings together and sorta averages em out.
And its able to date back to the 90s, which is crazy rare for a basketball recruit database.

was going to sign with Kentucky and was at one of their games, when UK was playing MSU, and sitting on the UK bench on an official visit. He realized he was pulling for MSU and decided to come here instead. The team of Brown, Wiley Peck and Ray White, et al, was arguably our most talented BB team, until Jim Hatflield totally 17 it up.

were unprecedented. Was a natural comedian. I remember one game he fouled out and went and sat on the opposing bench.

"Presley once gave up an opposite field double off the right field wall to a catcher who had three testicles."

Then again you can't make that up. I guess Tupelo was playing Chernobyl HS from Russia in a tournament?
