I believe there are 31 automatic qualifiers for the NCAA tournament. That leaves 33 at-large picks. Considering that there should be quite a few automatics that will already be in that top 30 or so rpi, where do you think a team needs to be for an at-large lock? By the way, Boyd's World has us at 29 today. Warren Nolan has us at 26. LSU and UGA are both 3 or 4 spots higher than us, but looks like UGA is toast. UM is at 41.

30 and above would be considered a lock. There are about 5-6 major baseball conferences- SEC, ACC, PAC-10, Big 12, C-USA. Those five are probably going to have a top 30 RPI team win the automatic bid. So, that leaves 25 top 30 teams or so left for the 33 bids. And the NCAA will probably give 1-2 WTF? picks to someone like an at large Sun Belt team or something like that.

If we go 2 and out, our rpi probably drops to the mid 30's. I would hope we don't have to sweat it come Memorial Day when the selection show comes on. To be perfectly comfortable with our standing, I would think we need to win 1 either Wednesday or Thursday. We are probably ok either way, but we need to remove all doubt. Especially when putting our fate in the hands of the NCAA, in any sport.

We're a lock for the NCAA tournament no matter what happens in Hoover. No way our RPI drops below 40.
