Wayne Madkins caught all kinds of hell here, but he would step up and do his best with what he had when the moment called for it.

Why bring up Madkin? Are you claiming Shapen didn't do his best?

If you aren't claiming that, what is the point of your post?

We went from an abysmal 2-10. We didn’t even look like we were remotely close to being competitive in the SEC. In the one off season Lebby had, he built a team, started 4-0, should be 5-0, and went toe to toe with a ranked TN team. Looking like we very much belong again. How he’s not given credit is beyond me.

So what did Lebby do that convinced you that he’s not capable?
I know this puts me in a minority but I believe Lebby may be on a similar path as Mullen. He'll learn how to be a head coach on our dime then move on to greener pastures. I just hope he can produce some Mullen-like years before he goes. This NIL stuff makes evaluating coaches more difficult than ever.

In my totally unqualified opinion, Shapen throws a great deep ball but his short to intermediate throws are suspect. He’s late making decisions and throws too hard for the receiver to catch it and his accuracy is not great. He’s no threat with his legs either. He’s still probably the best option we have.

We are still one quarterback away from being a winner.

More importantly, we are one coach away from being a winner.

Even so... Great game by these guys.

Let me see if I got this straight. My post about the quarterback somehow implies that I don't believe in our coach; somehow, the guy who gave up 14 points in the game we lost by seven has no blame... OK.

I want to confirm that I'm on the same page as you. You are making me break my promise of not posting the day after a very emotional game.

I think I will watch the NFL instead. You're free to extrapolate as you see fit.

Your OP specifically states "More importantly, we are one coach away from being a winner." Sorry if we somehow misunderstood your belief in our coach.

Also, the scoop & score was on the LT, not the QB; 95% of D1 QB's lose that ball there. The OL has to get better! The pick-six... Yes, it was thrown slightly behind the WR, but the WR got a hand on the ball inside his frame. Some could argue that he should've made that catch.

No need to worry if Shapen continues to get plastered in SEC play we will get to see the next QB sooner than later. Kromenech (or however you spell it). Doesn't seem to throw a great ball by what I've seen. And KT may be the future but I'm baffled as to why they NEVER let him throw the ball when in could it be he's not ready?

We have crap to choose from at quarterback. Sharpen is a good placeholder. After he sits down, we really don't have any experience. In this day of the portal, place the blame where you want for that... If you're going to blame anyone.

coaches leaving is something a majority of the schools have to deal with. never expected Lebby to be a lifer even though he may be. but if he does a good job here its up the the Admin to hire a competent replacement and keep it moving upward.

Lebby upgraded many positions from '24 - '25 and I have the expectation that he will do the same for next year. it's why he's here.

I would guess, and it is a guess, that he may have trouble reading D or not knowing routes yet or a combination and the coach is trying to win games this year and using him where he can be helpful. If we get to where we can't become bowl eligible maybe things will change. But expecting a true freshman to displace a QB that fully understands the scheme is puzzling at best.

Do you not remember last year. Let's not do that again

We all knew going in that our OL was a work in progress. Reese got hurt and we don't have quality depth. The surprising part for me is that we didn't incorporate more slants or screens against a defense that has routinely sacked QBs. Even so, we almost won the game and would have without the fumble scoop and score and the pick 6 which was a slant pass that was deflected.

Dude, I'm as negative as anyone. But it sounds like a 9 year old has stolen your phone, asked ChatGPT how to be a jackass, and pasted it on here.

Which coach? I've seen nothing this season that makes me think we have a terrible coach. I was underwhelmed by the Lebby hire, I didn't care for the job he did at the beginning of last year. But he has gotten better and better over time. I think he's actually doing a great job this year. Not sure what else you want. We've already beaten one ranked team this year, and we just took another one into OT.

Went to a UT board to get their read their thoughts on the game . Lots of conversation about Lebby . They are really impressed with him and THEIR consensus is he won't be at State very long before he gets an offer from a bigger school .........don't shoot the messenger .

Hey, you have to remember that the transfer in's may not all work out but we still need 4 lineman for offense and defense. Lebby has improved us greatly since last year and all better remember that each year we have to re recruit 25 new guys due to NIL. I promise none of you want that job as NIL will be the burnout of football coaches. Try to support the team not run them down. I just hope the injuries don't catch us short as it seems no one has many quality subs.

You do better as a poster when you stick to mindlessly complaining about the refs being on the take for basketball and football, and then providing terrible examples that really just expose how little you understand either sport.

THAT is better than the crap you are rambling about in this thread.
