Afternoon Bulldogs...Just trying to get a feel for how many Bulldog fans you guys expect to bring to TROY this season.? I have already booked my hotel in TROY tho there isnt a huge selection of Hotels in TROY since its a small town.....I booked my room at the Marriott in TROY for 200 bucks a night and that was a month ago and was told they were almost out of rooms. If all rooms are full in TROY your best bet is to stay in Montgomery which is a 35 min drive north of TROY depending on how fast you drive.<div>
</div><div>Veterans Memorial Stadium hold about 33,000 visitors or so. It will more than likely be a sell out. Im sure you guys are somewhat familiar with TROY since this will be the 3rd meeting between schools. But this will be the first time MSU has played TROY since becoming a full FBS member in 2004 in football. TROY fans pride ourselves on our home record having the 4th best home record in all of college football behind Boise State, Oklahoma State and Ohio State (Per Phil Steele). TROY has never lost to a Big 6 conference school at home before. in 2004 #17 Missouri Lost and in 2007 Oklahoma State lost. This will be the first time TROY has hosted a SEC team in the Vet. Looking forward to the game guys.</div>

MISSISSiPPI STATE to bring lots of MISSISSIPPI STATE fans. MISSISSIPPI STATE has had some good games with TROY in the past . I think one we won something like 12-7 and another we lost (aka The Hurricane game) . Both MISSISSPIPPI STATE/TROY games were played Sherrill's last 2 years. Unfortunatey, MISSISSIPPI STATE ain't your old brother's MISSISSIPPI STATE. Sparky Woods isn't MISSISSIPPI STATE'S offensive coordinator anymore aand Crooms GulfCoast offense has come and gone. TROY looked pretty bad last year too and Demarcus Ware now plays for the Cowboys and Osi Umenyria Plays forthe Giants.

TROY did look bad last year but there was a number of factors in that....1) we only returned 33% of our offense from the year before. 2) Our top 2 receivers were unable to play due to grades (They return this year) 3) key injuries...<div>
</div><div>This year I expect TROY to be back to their old ways. We return 93% of our offense from the year before plus the 2 key receivers who could not play last year. Larry Blakeney has never had back to back losing seasons in his 22 years at TROY. We are also not the same team you guys saw in the early 00s. We to have improved and we have shown those results over the past 6 years. As im sure and ive seen from Mississippi State....This game will be close either way. TROY has a history of playing SEC teams close. Last year only losing to Arkansas by 10, Leading LSU 33-3 in the 3rd quarter in 2008, losing by 10 to UGA. If it were at MSU Id say MSU by 2TD. But since its at TROY Ill say TROY by 4 points.</div>

We got a guy on here named Flabloser who will crunch the numbers and give you an exact head count prior to the game. We should be strong this year. Expect the Schuessler kid to start at quarterback for us. He will probably win the job over Prescott and Russell. We should be primarily a running team with Ladarius Perkins, Nick Griffin, and Montrell Conner. Offensive line is always a strong point and they do well in our West Coast offense that we have been running now for about 8 years. We are looking forward to the game.

I think it will be closer than most of our fans think, but we still win by 2 touchdowns. Our defense will be one of the best in the sec.

Friend of mine was in a crappy little band about to play for this spring break youth group, so I was there to watch him, and the youth leader guy sees my MSU shirt and started barking at me about Troy State and the Butler loss. This was in early 2003 after we had lost to them in 2001 and had the moral loss (i.e. 11-8 win) in 2002. Friend's dad, a Bama fan, said later he really thought I was about to whip that little dude's *** right in front of his youth group. He said I didn't start it, but he was pretty sure I was about to finish it. When I stood up on the guy and he realized I had about a foot on him, he skittered off to the shadows somewhere and stayed the hell away from me the rest of the night.

...because usually away teams (whether SEC or OOC) are usually real ******** when it comes to the cowbells.

I offer heartflelt thanks to Troy for honoring Miss. State traditions.

I'm sitting there minding my own business, when all of a sudden this little dude is in my face going "Did you know Troy State beat Mississippi State two years ago in football? And did you know Troy State almost beat Mississippi State last year in football? And did you know Mississippi State lost to Butler the other night in the NCAA tournament?"

It's been a reminder over the years not to be an *** to complete strangers, because when I found out he was in charge of the youth retreat, I got pissed that he was a minister and would be such a dick to a complete stranger just because of the t-shirt I happened to be wearing. It's a good thing I was already a Christian, because if I wasn't, I sure as hell wasn't going to be listening to anything that jackass had to say about Jesus.

Why schedule these type games. I would rather go to Bham and play UAB or to NO and play Tulane even S. Alabama in Mobile would be better.. Hell, at least give us something to do when we have an ooc away game. Troy is a bump in the road between Montgomery and Panama City.
I'm not saying that Starkvegas is any better- but when our fans travel give us a place that has some forms of entertainment available other than Ruby Tuesday and Sonic.

as long as Malzahn and Hudspeth are at those two schools. Troy is not even close to those two programs now.
