My maiden voyage to Sanford Stadium is this weekend. Can anybody help us first timers out with a rundown on what's good in Athens for this weekend? Bars, restaurants, and tailgating location advice? I have a group of 8 and we would like to have some clue about where to set up on Saturday morning. I did a google search and found mostly worthless articles and a bunch of folks bitching about the north campus tailgating restrictions put in place a few years back.

I asked on uga message boards a while back and everyone said all the bars are on Broad St, just north of campus
which I had never even heard of outside of a Jerry Jeff Walker song before my trip to Athens. Not a bad bar.

<span class="pp-place-title"><span><font size="5">Transmetropolitan it is a place on Clayton in the downtown area. Great pizza pasta and salads. They have an upstairs and downstairs. But on football weekend it is always full and when you eat there you know why. Good food and not pricey. They have a bar upstairs so you can take the kids in the place and still drink to your heart desire.

Does the Transmetropolitan have TV's to watch games in the part where the teens can go? Or can the teens go up into the sports bar part?<div>

My 20 year old turns 21 in 10 days (missed it by that much) and my 17 year old turns 18 in a couple months.</div>
