does this bother anyone? I'm all for our military but I don't like it constantly shoved in my face when watching college football. I watched the aTm game and it's unbelievable how many students are in full blown military outfits. aTm sends the most students into the military outside of the service academy's. I don't think aTm is gonna fit in too well in the SEC.

This is your problem with aTm? God forbid them have a lot of students willing to sacrifice theirs lives and time to serve this country and YOU.
Patriotism isn't a virtue of the SEC or the South,is it?***

You're saying they won't fit in because they're hardcore military? I'd expect that from an LSU fan but...fareal?

It's easy to say that from the comfort of your couch playing on your laptop isn't it, while we have men and women dying for you... Without a doubt, the dumbest thing I have ever read on here.

Yeah, because the SECfanbases are known for their strong anti-military stances.A&M willfit in just fine.I'm pretty sure you're in a very small minority on this.

Nobody is dying for him. If the country needs soldiers, it can draft them. Anyone volunteering for the armed forces is there of their own accord and is not deserving of any special hero worship.

Better yet, beg a moderator to delete it completely off the site. You need to be thankful that there are still young people like the cadets at A&M and other schools around the country that believe enough in this country to lay their lives on the line for you and me. They will fit in just fine when they come into the SEC.

You act like they're just playing dress up. It's a uniform, not an "outfit." They're part of the corps of cadets--which, while a huge part of the tradition there, is only about 2,000 of the 46,000 students.<div>
</div><div>Most land-grant schools had mandatory ROTC and, in effect, a corps of cadets until the mid sixties. Most of them continue to have good ROTC programs. Aggies take that to another level, but it's within the vein of SEC tradition. And the campus culture there is otherwise very much like every other SEC school.</div><div>

I suspect you would be one of those running for the Northern Border if they brought back the draft. The fact that someone would volunteer to defend this country rather than made to through a draft makes them even more of a hero. I am starting to see what is wrong with this country based on comments like this.

I have too many friends and family that serve(d) in the military and I beg to differ with that type of closedminded ********. They're doing a service for their country and sometimes paying the ultimate price at their own 17n accord. Don't sit there and act as if we don't need them. That's even bigger ******** than what the TC started. Why don't you at least do your university a favor anddisassociateyourself with it.

<div>Excellent argument on why the military should admit by draft only: http://johntreed.com/militarydraft.html</div><div>
</div><div>Actually, read through all his military articles. The military is the perfect example of government bureaucracy and incompetence.</div>

But that is absolutely, beyond-belief the dumbest thing I've ever read on here. You even topped the original poster on this thread. <div>
</div><div>The draft is just a way to pay the military less than they're worth. </div><div>

It's amazing you would even think they aren't dying for you or anyone else. If they're dying for their country, they're dying for YOU, unless, that is, you're not an American. Even if they're not specifically intending to do anything but earn a paycheck or college tuition, they're still serving this country and YOU, regardless of their intention.</p>

I'm just gonna have to believe both of you are simply very young and very ignorant. But that's still really no excuse.
