Good selection of music and timing last night. That really important for the mood in the stadium.

Even found a time to work in a old song for the blue hairs. Good job.

Only constructive criticism is stuff coming out of a timeout. The choice of music was good, but then the music would stop before the timeout ended. So some different music came on. Would have been better to let the music keep going.

Super job on selection and timing though. Made for a great atmosphere.

The sound is still terrible! It sounds like gigantic busted Cadillac speakers or redneck truck speakers. I guess it's to appeal to recruits.** Did not hear a single word Mullen said before the game.

With that said YES atmosphere and music selection was good.

Glad to see they worked out some things. Maybe the pack helped turned something around with the constructive, as well as the not so constructive comments.

Anyone else at the game notice the improvements?

Yeah there is something bad wrong with the sound. Bad distortion.

Agree. It was intolerable early this season. Seems to have gotten slightly better most weeks. But it should be a lot better. We've got some kind of world class audio system that shouldn't have any problems clearly rocking the house.

Except for that long, boring pre-game piece that I dubbed "We're mediocre in all sports". It seemed
to go on for about 20 minutes.

It pointed out that last year we had all sorts of exciting things happen like that one soccer player who was nominated for third team all freshmen SEC player of the week that one time. All the while playing music that sounded like a funeral dirge.

It was even out of date, stating that Chris Stratton was expected to be a first round draft pick.

All I heard Mullen say was be loud, stand on your feet, and respect the bell.

I've got a great suggestion for that. Jumbotron guy, you listening?

OK, look, that was pregame. Can't get climatically crunk before the game starts, before the team even runs out. We need something uplifting that doesn't overshadow things.

I suggest "Home" by Phillip Phillips. Its perfect. It promotes good spirits and unity. NBC thinks so because they used the song in a similar way during the Olympics.

And...if the timing allowed, the end could be really cool if crowd clapping and ringing came in at the end with the snare drum bit.

We have to get rid of the DJ pregame video. The only one with the classical music theme was so much better. If we are going to use that terrible song, take the idiot mixing the beats of the screen that no one cares about. Other than that, it was fine.

coundnt agree more

and it seemed to me that the advertisments were cut back drastically once the 4th quarter started. Huge factor with the atmosphere.

I wonder if expansion has plans to put speakers at the north end. That might be part of it if the sound only projects from one side

I sit in Q and you cannot understand it at all. For the USA game I sat with a friend above S in the Club Level and it was great.

It is purely the speakers and direction of the highs and mids. It sucks for game day now and bDC members and advertisers are not getting their money worth when half the stadium cannot hear.

They need to I stall speakers that aim toward the student section.

I assume the student section cannot hear either?

Expansion plans have more speakers added at current location in south end. Problems are with system settings - mega bass for music, no mids for any kind of speech intelligibilty. Can't understand announcer or commercial voice overs. I'd be pissed paying big bucks for muffled ad audio.

I sit in Section 106 (chairbacks under the middle deck on the west side) and we can never understand what words are being said; just garbled noise. It seems to me that some speakers mounted overhead or behind these sections would help tremendously. The problem with that, though, is that it would take them the rest of this season and part of the next for the MSU Staff to get the volume level right. It's a fine balance (I know because they've had such a hard time for the chairbacks in Section F under the roof at Dudy Noble. It was only after a couple of months of tweeting Chad Thomas that they finally got it so that you could finally carry on a conversation with the person sitting next to you while music was playing or the announcer speaking.)

Anyway, putting speakers over or behind the lower-level chairbacks would make the audio clearer and more understandable, not to mention doing away with the out-of-sync effect due to the distance from the Jumbotron speakers to folks on the 50 yard line or at the north end of the stadium. (Light travels so much faster than sound that the audio can seem out of sync with the video by the time it travels that far.)

The audio from the student section is really hard to understand. You can piece together what's being said if you listen very closely but it's ridiculous that we can't get a clear sound throughout the stadium. Everything else was good and I liked the music selection before the game. The pregame video is still TERRIBLE. It kills the momentum and the sole purpose of the video is to bring momentum.
