MRA dominated them in every facet of the game. Sophomore QB for MRA is not a bad athlete, definitely looked better then the Eulis kid. I say Eulis (that was what was in the program) did not look like a D-1 player at all. He looked slow, sluggish, and timid. The guy is 6'4 245, and he was far from dominating on either side of the ball, but he punted the ball well. I say, if he comes to State, add about 15 to 20 lbs and he will be a tightend at best. He showed me nothing as far as nastiness and tenacity on the defensive side of the ball, maybe it was an off night. I don't see Yazoo doing very good this year, and by the way, MRA has like only 7 seniors on the team.

What kind of football player doesn't come out fired up for the 1st game of the season? Sounds like this kid is all measurables.

when he realizes he can't ******** around once he gets to college, he won't be taking plays off. I have seen it happen a lot to smaller schools where the kid is just a men among boys. He is lackadaisical in his play but as soon as he starts playing people that he doesn't tower over, their play increases ten fold. I doubt he is receiving the greatest of coaching at Yazoo County.

you really like to see a kid show up with lots of talent and a "motor". At least this kid has the half of the equation you can`t teach .</p>

I think the best case for him is that he comes in as a talented but very very raw player who redshirts and then sits the bench for a year before starting. Worst case, obviously, is that he's just never worth a ****.

Euells is going to be a DE in college. Not a QB. If I remember correctly, his HS coach decided to let him do it for some ridiculous reason, like "Euells wanted to try it". I think it's pretty safe to say that he's playing out of position. Euells lack of intensity might have to do with not knowing what the heck he is doing out there.

Kind of like the entire Croom era.

your best athlete plays QB for these small high schools. When you have to put a 6'4" 245 DE at QB, you know the rest of your team is not very talented. This guy has enough offers from big time programs that I'm not gonna worry about him having a bad game and losing a high school game.....or 10. You shouldn't either.

maybe he will see the light and start playing up to what his body is capable of.....if not...just another in a long line of big fish in the small pond never making it in the big lake.

He just did not appear to be very self motivated. And I agree with whoever said "how do you not get fired up for the first game of the year?" Maybe the intense coaching and conditioning regimine that our new staff has in place will turn this kid around. Who knows...but he did not look D1, let alone SEC caliber, at all last night.

I went aGAINST Olester Pope, who was a senior, in mop up duty time. We were beating Utica handily. He was 6-5, 310. He sucked. He ended up being all-conference at USM and signed a FA contract with the Dolphins.

Then I would gladly hand YOU the scholarship slated for the guy I watched play last...provided you had any eligibilty left. Obviously you have a tenacious heart with that low center of gravity plus tremendous body lean. I think it would benefit us most to put you on the scout team...turning you loose mano a mano with every member of the squad until we create a legion of "Olester Popes" on the current Bulldog roster. DO NOT underestimate your role in advancing the career of Olester Pope.

Hopefully Scout, ESPN, Rivals and the coaches of MSU, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee will immediately throw away his previous 3 years of playing, game film, and their own scouting and evaluations that they used to determine his abilities (which led to his being ranked as a top 20 DE in the country with offers from many national powers) and instead choose to go by your account of this one high school game! Surely now, based on your talent evaluating prowess, all of the aforementioned will withdraw their scholarship offers and demote him to "1 star" status. Whew! Dodged a close one there! Thank you for saving us from the disaster that could have been! We sure are lucky to have fans like you watching out for us on a random Friday night.

Hopefully, this kid can work hard and walk-on to a community college somewhere so he can get an education now that you have realized that he has no future in football.

Why so defensive? People on this board are encouraged to state their opinion and EVEN CONTRADICT one another. I saw the same game Thick did and have the same opinion. Thick did offer the caveat "maybe it was an off night." We all have the same goal in mind here but if you want somebody to tell you that the guy didn't suck last night then they would simply be lying.

i have no problem believing he sucked last night. i just share dawgstudent and chuckie dimplelip's (or whatever his name is) opinion on the matter. i just thought the original post was a little overboard, so i went overboard in the other direction just for fun.
