AU is a better team.

I would agree.........& I don't think that we are that far away. I trust we will improve as the season goes on

What bothered me last night was the "Croomesque" abandon the run & start passing the ball way to early. I figured we went to Russell to rest Relf for the 4th quarter push, but in our second to last offensive series, I thought we should have been pounding it out, to eat the clock & open up some passes. That may be proof though, that we have not found our go to back yet.

Part of me suspects that Mullen felt that the only way we could win this game, was for a big play strike down the field. Those passing plays showed qb accuracy is a big question mark.

I hate to say this, but I thought the game was over when we went 3 & out after the onside kick.

I still like watching this team play

Special teams suck / qb accuracy questionable @ best / offensive line got pushed around & they need to learn to get pissed off & not let that happen

One thing I do know is that this team will work on correcting what is wrong, but I am real bothered by the special teams play

one more thing, great job on blocking the field goal.

I agree with everything you say. In addtion, we still do not have a quarterback who can perform against a good team like Auburn. Russell lookied very unsure of himself in his first SEC game which was probably predictable, but when he is in there, the opponent knows he represents absolutely no running threat, and running plays are invaribly gonna be handoffs up the middle. They will defend accordingly.<div>Even so, we battled very hard and still had the chance to win at the end. Newton was clearly the difference in the game.</div><div>

and keep in mind we're still a year and a half removed from Croomville.

There are no more moral victories for MSU, just disappointment when we lose.

I was pissed at the play calling the second half when we started passing. After sleeping on it, I felt a little better. Though we went 3 and out on those series, the play calling was actually not bad. The play was actually there had the players executed. The receivers were open and the QBs had time, so whatever they were seeing was working. Drops and poor passes killed it. My gripe is that the coaches saw that we were not feeling the pass the second half and kept trying to make it happen. I would have like to see more option and to open the occasional pass up.

Auburn has 21. We have 4 starting seniors on the entire fieldthat have been at our program 4 years. To compare, Auburn has that manyjust on their OL. Senior talent beats youth and inexperience all day.

Most people on here will argue a point regardless of how ridiculous and wrong they may be. I said yesterday we had about the same talent as AU now. I was wrong. We do not. Their OL is better. Their DL is better. Their QB is better. They have more speed in the backfield.

With all that said, yes, we can 2nd guess Mullen on going to Russell and the passing game. However, Mullen has coached this team up. Talent wise, we are still a long ways away. We don't have a RB. Our WRs are fast but undersized. Our RG will never graduate. We need another badass LB. I thought it was odd when watching the Memphis game that they seemed to be comparable in size and speed to us. The size and speed difference really showed last night. Mullen is a very good coach. But He needs to do alot of recruiting to get this program in the top 25.

Im not here to flame because im just not that sort of person, but i STRONGLY believe Mullen is going to be a great coach for you.<div>
</div><div>The defense for Miss. State stepped up, and this is no offense to any Miss State fans, but seeing as though they don't recruit many high school superstars, you must allow gradual improvement.</div><div>
</div><div>Never the less, Russell is only a true frosh (i think), he has time to improve and become a good QB.</div><div>
</div><div>Dont worry guys, State is going to be a good program....in fact, i think they defeat one of Arky or Bama this year.</div>

I know that playing for the tie is a bit of a wuss move, but when we had the ball at their 40 with 50 seconds left we should have gone to a hurry up option offense. Running plays that can get you to moderate field goal distance is a lot more likely to work than sending up long balls to receivers who cannot catch.

A couple more years of Mullen recruiting classes and we will have the personnel to make a run at the SECW. I think he actually has a plan for the future.

Completely pissed away the momentum swing from such a perfectly executed onside kick. It was beautiful when it happened. It was downright sublime in slow motion. Then...nothing.<div>
And just in case that dead horse hasn't been tenderized enough already: we need some receivers that can catch the freaking ball.</div>
